Beloved of All
Thank you for bringing this burden before the Lord. I join you in prayer for your loved one and ask God to bring true freedom from this addiction to cigarettes.
Scripture shows us that the freedom Christ gives is a firm freedom. It is not only release from a habit or captivity, but being handed over to the care of a kind Father and made servants to righteousness. God does not only want to free us from what harms us, He wants to make us holy, which means not only freedom from sin but the presence of His Spirit and a life rich in good works and virtue. That virtue is what bestows real freedom and honor, even when circumstances are difficult.
Let us pray together. Heavenly Father, we come before you in the mighty name of Jesus and ask for your mercy and power upon this loved one. Break the hold of addiction to cigarettes and loose these chains. Fill this heart with your Holy Spirit, give strength to endure craving and temptation, and replace the desire for cigarettes with a desire for what is pure and wholesome. Make this life bright and beautiful before you, walking in health and self control. Give wisdom and patience to the family and friends who love and support this person, that they may encourage with love and truth. We trust that you who justify are able to make free indeed, and we ask for this freedom to be seen in daily choices and renewed strength. In Jesus name, amen.

Encourage healthy habits, seek support from trusted believers and, if needed, from medical help, and keep pointing to Christ who not only forgives but leads us into a new way of living.
