healthier relationship

Disciple of Prayer
My prayer request is for ###’s health and well being, and for healing in our friendship. I pray that she has peace, strength, and support, and that we can both grow in kindness, patience, and understanding. I hope our relationship can become healthier and more peaceful, while I also learn to respect her boundaries and give her the space she needs.

We join with you in bringing your friend before the Lord and we are encouraged by your humble and caring heart in this prayer. Your desire for her health and well being, and for healing and peace in your friendship, reflects the love Christ calls us to show one another, and your willingness to respect her boundaries and give her space is a beautiful expression of that love.

We are reminded in Scripture that true peace and strength come from God alone. Philippians 4:6-7 tells us not to be anxious but in everything by prayer to let our requests be made known to God, and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard our hearts and thoughts in Christ Jesus. We also see that kindness, patience and understanding are fruit of the Spirit, as described in Galatians 5:22-23, and we are called to clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience as Colossians 3:12 teaches. Love is patient and kind and does not insist on its own way as 1 Corinthians 13:4-5 shows us, and we are urged to walk with all lowliness and humility, with patience, bearing with one another in love and being eager to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace in Ephesians 4:2-3. As far as it depends on us we are to live at peace with all people according to Romans 12:18, and a friend loves at all times as Proverbs 17:17 reminds us. For health and healing we remember that God is our healer who heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds in Psalm 147:3 and we can cast all our anxiety on Him because He cares for us in 1 Peter 5:7.

We notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to gently share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me in John 14:6, and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved in Acts 4:12. If we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead, we will be saved as Romans 10:9 promises. It is by trusting in Jesus Christ alone for forgiveness and eternal life that our prayers are heard.

We pray together now for your friend and for you. Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and lift up this dear friend to You. We ask for Your hand upon her health and well being, for Your healing and protection over her body and mind, and that You would grant her Your peace that passes all understanding, Your strength for each day, and the support of people who will encourage her and point her to You. Lord, we pray for healing in this friendship, that You would help both to grow in kindness, patience and understanding, that You would teach us to love as You love, to be quick to listen and slow to speak as James 1:19 says, and to bear with one another in love. Give wisdom to respect boundaries, to give space with grace, and to pursue what makes for peace. Help this friendship to become healthier and more peaceful, rooted in honesty, respect and godly love, and may both be drawn closer to You through it. We ask all this in the precious name of Jesus, our hope and our healer, Amen.

We encourage you to continue to entrust your friend and this friendship to the Lord, to pray for her regularly and to seek His wisdom as you show patient and selfless love. As you wait on the Lord He will renew your strength according to Isaiah 41:10, and He will guide you to love well while honoring the space she needs. Keep abiding in Christ, letting His Word dwell richly in you, and trust that He is at work for good in both of your lives.

We noticed the care in how you prayed for, wanting health and peace for her first, and healing for the friendship second. That posture, putting her wellbeing ahead of what you hope to receive, is a good foundation for the healthier, more peaceful relationship you long for.

Wanting to respect her boundaries and give space is loving, and it can also feel uncertain. Boundaries are often described as property lines. They help each person know what is theirs to carry, their time, energy, choices and emotions, and what belongs to the other. When those lines are clear and kindly held, both people can stay connected and still be free to say yes or no honestly. That freedom is what lets kindness and patience grow without pressure or resentment.

A gentle next step when you are ready might be to let her define what space looks like for her right now. A brief, kind check-in that names your care and leaves the response entirely with her, without explaining or following up quickly if she needs time, can show respect in action.

Father, we lift ### to You for health, peace and steady support, and we lift our friend who is praying. Give them both wisdom and kindness as they navigate this friendship, help them grow in patience and understanding, and guide their steps toward what is healthy and honoring to You. In Jesus' name, amen.

We join you in bringing this burden before the Lord, who is the great Physician of both body and soul. Your desire for health and well being, for peace and strength, and for a friendship marked by kindness, patience and understanding is a right and good desire, and we pray that the Lord will work these graces in you both according to His will.

We are reminded that the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations, and that the least thing about Christ is healing. Not only His fruit but even His leaves are full of healing virtue. There is an abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ and His salvation to change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before. When the Sun of Righteousness rises upon His people with healing in His wings, pardon and healing are placed in happy conjunction and both are bestowed together. As it was said to the sick of the palsy, so it is still, pardon and healing are one in the hand of Christ.

We pray that you and your friend may know this healing first in your own hearts before the Lord. Every heart needs healing, for we are broken in many ways, and He heals the broken in heart and binds up their wounds. That healing is the work of God alone, and it begins when we look to Christ for forgiveness and life. May you both seek Him earnestly in His Word, for faith comes by hearing, and healing is linked with His teaching. Calvary is the place for the healing balm, and there the Lord is able to heal however far we have wandered.

We ask the Lord to grant to her health and strength as He sees fit, to give her peace that passes understanding, and to surround her with godly support. We ask Him to make your friendship healthier and more peaceful, that it may be guided by true wisdom from above. True friendship is a reciprocal thing that is kept alive by communion and guarded by obedience to Christ. May you both grow in the fruits of the Spirit, in kindness, patience and understanding toward one another.

Your purpose to respect her boundaries and to give her the space she needs is itself a kindness and a mark of love that seeks the good of the other. We pray the Lord will give you grace to do this with gentleness and steadiness, not pressing beyond what love allows, but committing each step to Him in prayer and leaving the outcome in His hands. May He teach you both to wait upon Him, to be slow to speak and quick to hear, and to let His healing virtue work in you till you are made whole in Him.

May the Lord hear this prayer, forgive sin, heal disease of soul and body as He wills, and cause His grace to abound toward you both. We commend you to Him who alone can make whole. Amen.
