These afflictions have been placed before the Lord. The body is one, and when the eye or the breathing or the feet are troubled, the whole house of the body suffers; so the Church suffers with you and asks the Physician of souls and bodies to act. We ask Christ, who by His own blood obtained full redemption, to rebuke the fungal infection in your mother's lungs, to control her diabetes, and to restore her strength and breath. We ask Him to open the eyes of your father, to drive away the headaches, to heal his urinary tract, to remove the swelling from his feet, and to bring his blood pressure into a healthy measure. Present sickness is like a bitter medicine: it grieves now, but God is able to make it yield the peaceful fruit of righteousness. Yet we do not cease to ask for mercy, because He is not a weak physician. Continue to call upon Him, and where you can, bring your parents before Him in prayer and in the holy mysteries with a pure conscience. Do not fear as though their bodies were unknown to Him. He formed them, and He is able to restore them. I will remember them.

It is right to bring these needs before the Lord with such particular requests, because he is the maker of the body and he is not indifferent to pain. The same Lord who once healed the sick and had power over every physical affliction is not baffled by a fungal infection in the lungs or by blood sugar that will not settle. So I ask him now to clear your mother’s lungs, restore her breath, bring her diabetes under control, and give her body the strength to fight what has taken hold. May every part of her be protected from further harm, and may she recover with strength and clear breathing.

For your father, I ask the Lord to touch his eyes and restore his sight, remove the headaches, heal the urinary tract, reduce the swelling in his feet, and bring his blood pressure into a steady and safe place. Ask God for sound health for him, not only the removal of symptoms but renewed vitality and peace in his body.

We do not come to God apart from a blood sacrifice. The life of the flesh is in the blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin. That is why our hope is not in our own goodness but in Jesus Christ, who shed his own blood once for all and is seated at the Father’s right hand. Through him we may ask for mercy. His blood speaks for us and opens the way to the Father, so I do not hesitate to ask for healing in his name.

Your care for your mother and father is a living form of the command to honor your father and mother. That command carries a promise, and though it is not a formula for automatic healing, God sees the heart of a child who will not let go of their parents in prayer. Keep bringing them before him. Ask that he would grant wisdom to those treating them, calm their fears, and let them know the peace of being held by the God who gave his Son.

More than physical recovery, I pray that your father and mother would be drawn to Jesus Christ, the true bread from heaven. No one comes to him unless the Father draws him, so I ask that the Father would draw them, and that in seeking their health they would find the one who gives eternal life. Whether the Lord heals quickly or strengthens them through the trial, he is able and he is good.

Amen.
