It is not surprising that you brought this headache and concern about a fever to Jesus. He understands physical suffering firsthand. When He entered Peter’s house and saw his mother-in-law lying sick with a fever, likely the kind of malaria that plagued the upper Galilee region, He simply touched her hand and the fever left her. That same compassion and power are yours today. Let’s ask Him to lift this headache completely and keep your body from overheating while you are with your daughter.
At the same time, remember that God cares about every part of your health, body, mind, and soul. There is a profound connection between the peace of your soul and the condition of your body. As you rest your anxieties in His hands, your body often follows. I find myself praying for you the same kind of wish the apostle John sent to his friend: that you may be in health even as your soul prospers. That is not a guarantee of instant relief, but it is a beautiful pattern. Let your soul prosper by trusting His goodness, and see what He does with the headache and the fever.
I also lift up your son. “Happy and healed”, those two are closely linked. Jesus heals the whole person, restoring joy and mending what is broken, sometimes in a moment, sometimes through a process. The healing may touch his circumstances, his mind, or his body. Whatever he needs, our Lord has authority over it. I join you in asking for that full touch upon his life.
Sickness and pain entered the world because of sin’s corruption, not necessarily your sin or his. We groan in these bodies at times. Yet Jesus bore our sorrows and invites us to bring everything to Him. So let’s not carry needless pain alone. I stand with you in prayer, believing that the One who calmed seas and rebuked fevers will meet you both right now. May you feel His cooling peace, and may your son know His restoring hand.
