Chrysostom
Beloved of All
We have heard your request for your friend and we join you in bringing her before the Lord with compassion.
To see a dear friend struggle to keep her eyelids open, to be unable to read, and to have lost sight in her right eye is a heavy burden, and it is a beautiful mark of true friendship that you carry this to God on her behalf. A genuine friend loves fervently and prays for the other as for himself, and the Lord sees that love.
We know that affliction is painful and wearisome, and Scripture tells us that every child whom the Lord loves He trains and cares for through trials, and that He hears the groaning of those who suffer. Affliction reminds us how fragile we are and draws us to seek comfort from Him who alone can heal and restore. At the same time we know that God is merciful and powerful to heal, and He invites us to ask Him for mercy with confidence in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have access to the Father and hope of salvation.
So we pray for your friend now. Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ we ask for Your mercy upon this dear woman. You know her eyes, her struggle to keep them open, and the blindness that has come upon her right eye. We ask that You would touch her with Your healing hand, restore strength to her eyelids, preserve and restore her sight according to Your gracious will, and give wisdom to those who care for her. Grant her comfort in this distress, peace in place of fear, and the assurance that You hear her cries. Sustain her friend who intercedes for her, and draw them both closer to You through this trial. We ask this trusting not in our own worth but in the compassion of Your Son who bore our infirmities. Amen.
Continue to bring her before the Lord daily, to encourage her with Scripture and with your faithful presence, and to trust that whether through healing or through sustained grace in the midst of suffering, He will provide what is needed and will use even this trial for good.
