Healing

Your request has been heard and I am joining my faith with yours in prayer before the Lord today. I am so sorry for the pain you are experiencing in your esophagus and for the fear that comes when even swallowing brings hurt. It is right to bring this to God, for He is compassionate and He cares for you in your suffering.

I understand the hope you expressed that when two or more agree in prayer God will act. The Lord does hear us when we pray together and He has promised to be present with those who seek Him. At the same time, healing comes according to His wisdom and mercy, not as a formula we control, but as a gift from a loving Father who knows what is best. We can come to Him with confidence, asking for complete healing, while also trusting His will and His timing, and resting in His peace even while we wait.

I will pray that God brings healing to your esophagus and to your whole body, that He eases the pain when you swallow, that He removes what is causing this affliction, and that He comforts your heart and takes away fear so you can rest. I also encourage you, as you trust God for healing, to seek care from a doctor promptly, since God often works through the skill He has given to physicians, and it is wise to have this pain evaluated without delay.

Let us pray together now.

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, I lift up this dear one to You. You see the pain in the esophagus and the difficulty and hurt with every swallow. You see the fear and the sleepless concern. Lord, have mercy and lay Your healing hand upon this body. Ease the pain, restore the tissue, allow food and drink to be received without hurt, and bring healing from head to toe according to Your will. Grant peace that guards the heart and mind, and grant restful sleep tonight and renewed strength in the morning. Give wisdom to doctors and guide every step of care. Let Your presence be felt as comfort and assurance, and let Your will be done in all things. We ask this in the name of Jesus, our great physician and our hope. Amen.

Be assured that you are not alone in this. I will continue to pray for you. Keep seeking the Lord, cast your cares upon Him, and let those close to you know of your need so they can pray and support you and help you get medical care quickly. May the Lord grant you His peace and sustain you with His love.

Your pain and fear in swallowing have been heard, and I am praying with you. It is frightening when every swallow hurts and the mind runs to the worst possibilities, so your request for prayer is right and good.

The Scripture teaches that the beginning of true knowledge and wisdom is a reverent awe of God. That fear is not a phobia, but a deep respect for who He is, His greatness and His power, loving what He loves and hating what He hates. When we pause to meditate on Him, that awe grows, and it steadies us. Fear and faith cannot rule the heart at the same time. Fear takes over when we forget the Lord, and faith returns when we remember Him. David said though he walked through the valley of death he would fear no evil because the Lord was with him. Remembering that God is present and that He is your confidence will keep your foot from being taken, even while you wait for answers about your body.

I also want to pray for your healing with understanding. The Bible shows that Jesus bore our infirmities, as Isaiah prophesied, and Matthew connects that prophecy to Jesus healing the sick, whether it was a leper, the servant of a centurion, the mother of Peter, or the multitudes who came in the evening. He healed in many different ways. Sometimes He touched, sometimes He only spoke a word from a distance, sometimes the healing was instant and sometimes it was gradual. There is only one record of a gradual healing in His ministry, which reminds us He is not confined to a pattern. All healing is from God, even the healing that comes through the natural processes He has built into our bodies. For that reason I believe strongly in prayer for healing, and I also believe God often works through the skill of doctors and the natural course of recovery. There is much about healing we do not fully understand, including why some are healed quickly and others over time, but we can trust His power and His love and bring every need to Him. Coming together in prayer is precious and Jesus hears when His people agree in His name, yet prayer is not a formula that forces God to do exactly what we ask on our timetable. It is placing our request in the hands of a wise and compassionate Father who does what is best.

So I join my faith with yours now and ask the Lord to show mercy to you.

Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus I bring this need before You. You know the pain in this esophagus and the fear that comes with it. You have borne our sicknesses and You have power over all infirmities. I ask that You would touch this body and bring healing according to Your will, whether instantly or gradually through the healing processes You have created. Ease the pain in swallowing, restore what is wrong, and bring peace to this troubled heart. Help fear to leave and faith to remain, as Your presence is remembered. Give wisdom to any doctors or caregivers who may help, and give comfort through the night and in the days ahead. Let there be a testimony of Your care, and above all let this dear one know Your nearness and Your love through Jesus Christ. Amen.

Continue to seek wise medical care promptly for trouble swallowing, and keep bringing your heart to God in reverent trust. Meditate on who He is, fear Him in the sense of honoring Him above all, and depart from evil. The promise given is that those who fear Him lack no good thing He knows they need, and He will take care of those who take care of their relationship with Him. May He guard you, calm your fear, and work His healing in you in the way He knows is best.

We thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf and we are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer. We have been lifting you up for healing in your esophagus and for the severe pain you have been experiencing when you swallow food or drink. We remember how scared you were feeling and yet how you held onto faith that with the power of prayer God will heal, and we have clung to that promise with you that when two or more come together and pray it will be done as we are reminded in Matt 18:20.

We continue to join our faith with yours asking our Heavenly Father to touch your esophagus and to bring complete healing from head to toe, that you would wake in the morning restored and free from pain. We pray that He would comfort your heart and take away fear and fill you with His peace and we claim His promise that He will restore you to health and heal your wounds in Jer 30:17.

If your request was answered and the Lord has healed your swallowing and taken away the pain, please post a praise report and let us all know so we may rejoice with you. If your request does not seem to have been answered yet and you are still waiting for that complete healing, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer.

We are standing with you and we pray all of this in Jesus Name. May God bless you as you continue to seek Him through His Son, Jesus Christ.
