Healing

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this biopsy and the fear that accompanies it. Father, we know that You are the Great Physician, the One who knits us together in our mother’s womb and numbers every hair on our head. You hold all life in Your hands, and nothing is hidden from Your sight. We ask, in the mighty name of Jesus, that You would guide the hands of the doctors and technicians performing this biopsy. Let the results reveal only what is benign, bringing peace and relief where there is anxiety.

Lord, we declare that by the stripes of Jesus, we are healed (Isaiah 53:5). We stand on Your promise that if we ask anything according to Your will, You hear us, and if You hear us, we know that we have the petitions we have asked of You (1 John 5:14-15). We trust in Your perfect will, whether it be healing, strength, or another purpose we cannot yet see. Give wisdom to the medical team and comfort to the heart that waits for answers.

We also rebuke the spirit of fear that seeks to take root in this situation. Scripture tells us that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). We command fear to flee in Jesus’ name! Let faith arise, for faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1). We choose to fix our eyes on You, Lord, and not on the circumstances.

If there is any unconfessed sin or unforgiveness in this situation, we pray that You would bring it to light so it can be dealt with. The Bible tells us that if we confess our sins, You are faithful and righteous to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). We ask for a clean heart and a right spirit before You.

We pray for complete healing, not just of the body, but of the mind and spirit as well. May this trial draw us closer to You, deepening trust and dependence on Your unfailing love. We thank You for the blood of Jesus, which covers every need and speaks a better word than the blood of Abel (Hebrews 12:24). We trust in Your goodness, Your mercy, and Your perfect plan.

In the precious and powerful name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We're holding this close with you as Tuesday approaches. Waiting for results, sitting with the "what-ifs", that's its own heavy weight to carry, and you don't have to pretend it isn't. The biopsy itself is already a good, concrete step. You're doing what's in front of you, and that takes courage.

One thing we've seen help others in this in-between space is giving themselves permission not to fight every anxious thought alone. On Tuesday, consider asking one trusted person, a friend, a family member, someone from church, to pray specifically for you right before the procedure, just a quick text or a brief moment together. It won't change the outcome by itself, but it puts flesh-and-blood around you so you're not carrying the fear alone. And between now and then, when the worry spikes, it can be as simple as saying out loud, "Lord, You know I'm scared, help me trust You in this."

We're praying with you now, and we'll be praying Tuesday.

Lord Jesus, You see this person and the fear they're carrying into this biopsy. Calm their heart with Your presence. Give the doctors clear eyes and steady hands, and we ask for a benign result, for good news that brings relief and gratitude. In the waiting, be their peace that holds when answers aren't yet known. We ask this in Your name. Amen.

Your prayer reaches the throne of grace, and we unite our hearts with yours, pleading for a benign result on Tuesday, that the Lord would rebuke the devourer and grant you a token of His preserving mercy. Yet, while you seek this physical reprieve, remember that the very leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations. The least thing about Christ brims with restorative power; even the hem of His garment is charged with virtue for those who press near in faith. Do not, then, fix your hope merely upon a favorable report from the physician, but upon the Great Physician Himself, who forgives all your iniquities and heals all your diseases. Forgiveness and healing are sweetly joined in Him: when He said to the palsied man, "Your sins are forgiven you," restoration followed. Seek first the pardon that flows from Calvary, for there the healing balm is found, not in the lancet of anxious fear, but in the wounds of Jesus.

Your trembling heart is known to Him who heals the broken in spirit and binds up their wounds. Perhaps this trial is sent to break up the hard ground of self-reliance and drive you to the cleft of the Rock. A broken heart, if worked by the Holy Spirit, issues in salvation; a merely healed body, without a renewed soul, leaves you still in your sins. Therefore, hear the Gospel with heedful ears even as you await the news: "He took her by the hand and lifted her up", healing precedes service, but healing itself must begin with His touch. Cast yourself upon Him, and whether He grants you the benign result you crave or ordains a different path, you shall know that the Sun of Righteousness has arisen with healing in His wings. The blessed man's leaf does not wither; in Christ your lifeblood is changed, your spirit made new, and even the shadow of death becomes a passage to eternal freshness.

We pray, then, with this double plea: that your body be spared, but above all that your soul be sealed in the covenant of peace. Do not let the enemy snatch away the seed of this trial before it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness. He is able to heal, and often manifests His power in seasons of teaching, while His Word is yet sounding in your ear, reach out the hand of faith. Welcome the pardon, and the healing will follow from the same pierced hand. God bless you and keep you.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

What you ask is not wrong, for we are taught to cast all our care upon Him, and to pray in the name of Jesus. But take heed lest the great anxiety over this body overshadow the health of your soul. For what is this earthly form, this flesh that withers and decays? Even if it remain whole for a season, disease or sorrow shall soon deface it. The only beauty that endures, that neither age nor calamity can touch, is the inward adornment of a spirit at peace with God.

Consider the word of our Lord to the paralytic whom He had healed: "See, you are made whole; sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you" (John 5:14). The sickness of the body is fearful, yet it is often sent to rouse the soul from a far graver peril. When the flesh is scourged, it is a summons to examine your conscience, to pour out prayers with fasting and to lay hold of mercy while it is near. Do not fix your hope merely on a benign report, as though that were the summit of blessing. For even if the cup of affliction be given you, trust that God permits it for your profit, as a physician applies a painful remedy for dropsy or a hidden fever.

Entrust the outcome entirely to His goodness. Let your prayer be not only for relief, but for the grace to accept whatever He appoints, knowing that for those who love Him, even suffering is turned into the strength of steel. Cast away the anxiety that gnaws at you and crowds out peace; it yields no profit. The thing you fear has not yet come, and if it should, His mercy will be present with it.

So in these days before the test, let your heart be occupied with the things that are above, not with the terror of what might be. Commend yourself and all you are to the Physician of souls, and say, “Lord, Thou knowest; Thy will be done.” Then whatever answer comes, you will hold a treasure that no illness can steal: a conscience cleansed, a hope unfading, and the beauty that alone passes into the nuptial chamber undefiled.
