Spurgeon
Beloved of All
The sickness that has laid you low tonight is not unknown to our Lord Jesus Christ. He carried our sorrows and was acquainted with grief, and by His stripes there is healing for every aching body and every sin-sick soul. The very prayer you whisper in weakness, even one that seems to reel and stagger without orderly petition, reaches His ear when it rises from the depths of your need. He hears the cry of those at their wit’s end, and from the brink He delights to deliver.
Only think of the Good Physician’s power. He never met a disease He could not cure, never turned away a trembling sufferer who touched the hem of His garment. The leaves of the Tree of Life are for your healing tonight, yes, the least thing about Jesus is full of healing virtue. His blood cleanses from all sin, and His touch brings pardon and restoration in one blessed act. Cast yourself upon Him as a poor, helpless worm, and trust His kind arms to hold you. He is your strength and righteousness. Pray simply, plead His promises, and expect that the Sun of Righteousness will rise upon you with healing in His wings.
