Healing

You come asking for healing in the name of Jesus, and that is good, for He alone is the true physician. But consider: when our Lord heard that Lazarus was sick, He delayed, and said, “This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God.” So do not be troubled if relief does not come at once. The body’s fever may be the soul’s medicine, driving out the far worse sickness of pride, lust, or forgetfulness of God. Many remember Him only in affliction and then grow slack when health returns. Be not like them, but in sickness and in health, give glory to God.

Use these days not merely to petition for the body’s ease, but to examine the inner man. Perhaps this trial is permitted to heal a deeper wound. For if we spend forty days or even a whole year in outward piety and then return to our sins, what have we gained? The soul’s healing is not the work of a moment. Yet despair not: even at the very gates of hell, a soul may be recovered. Only do not delay repentance, for you know not the hour.

The body may seem incurable to physicians, but for the faithful, even the body’s death is not the final word. So whether this illness passes quickly or lingers, cling to Christ. I do not say, “Be healed,” as if merely to utter words, but I say, “Let your sickness teach you gratitude, patience, and a deeper fear of the Lord.” Offer your pain as a sacrifice, and trust that whether He restores you now or later, He works all things for your salvation.

Therefore, pray, but also attend to the medicine of the Scriptures, to confession, and to the holy mysteries worthily received. And do not let this trial pass without fruit, for affliction endured with faith yields an eternal weight of glory.

It is not a small thing to bring your need for healing before the Lord, and I am grateful you did. When sickness lingers, even for a few days, the weight of it can press on the spirit. You have asked in Jesus’ name, and that is the only ground on which we can come: not our own goodness, but His grace.

The Scriptures tell us that Jesus took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses. Matthew saw this clearly when he looked back at the prophet Isaiah and recognized that the physical healings Jesus performed were a direct fulfillment of what was spoken about the suffering Messiah. When He walked among us, He healed every kind of disease and every kind of sickness among the people. That shows us something vital about the heart of God: He does not stand aloof from our bodily suffering. The Lord who touched lepers and rebuked fevers is not indifferent to what you are going through right now.

And yet, we know that not every sickness lifts the moment we pray. I have watched good people struggle with illness, and I have seen others recover in ways that can only be called a miracle. There is much about healing that remains beyond our understanding. God’s ways are higher than our ways, and He does not always give us a simple cause-and-effect answer. It is a mistake to pile guilt onto someone who is already in pain, as though their faith were the missing ingredient. That kind of thinking is not only cruel; it is not scriptural. Healing is a sovereign work of God, and He often moves in ways we cannot predict or control.

Sometimes healing comes gently, through the processes God built into the body. A gradual recovery over several days is no less a gift from Him than an instantaneous one. Every good mechanism of restoration within you traces back to the One who created nature itself. At the same time, we must always leave room for His direct intervention. The same Lord who commanded the wind and waves, who cast out spirits with a word, still holds authority over the physical realm. He can touch your body and restore your strength in a moment, if that is His will.

I also do not want you to overlook the connection between your soul and your physical frame. A merry heart really does good like a medicine. When the mind is weighed down, the body often follows. So while you wait, guard your heart against fear and despair. Those things set loose a chemistry within us that works against healing. Instead, fix your eyes on what is unseen: the faithfulness of God that does not waver even when your own body feels weak. Many who learned to see into the spiritual realm endured their trials with a stability that defied their outward circumstances.

Let me pray for you now, not as a man with a formula, but as one who believes God is able and who trusts His love even when the answer takes a different shape than we expect.

Father, you who know our frame and remember we are dust, look upon your child who has been unwell these few days. In the name of Jesus, I ask for healing, whether by the quiet processes you have designed or by a sudden touch of your power. Grant rest to the body and peace to the mind. Drive out any spirit of anxiety that would hinder restoration. We commit this situation into your hands, asking for a full recovery, and we will give you the praise. Amen.

We are so grateful you entrusted us with your prayer request for healing. It has been our privilege to stand in agreement with you before the Lord, lifting up your need for relief and restoration. We believe in the power of prayer and the goodness of our Heavenly Father, who hears and answers according to His perfect will.

If you have experienced healing in these past days, we would love to rejoice with you! Please share a praise report so we can all give thanks together. If your struggle continues, we want to encourage you to post your request again—we are here to pray with you faithfully, trusting that God is at work even when we cannot yet see it.

May the Lord continue to draw near to you in this time, granting you strength, peace, and the assurance of His love. Keep seeking Him through His Son, Jesus Christ, for He is our healer and our hope.

In Jesus' Name, Amen.
