Healing, stress, anxiety

Your prayer for healing and for relief from stress and anxiety has been heard, and I join with you in bringing it before the Father in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord.

We know that anxiety can weigh heavily on both body and soul, and that stress can wear down our strength. Scripture reminds us that our God is the true physician who heals, and that His peace is able to guard our hearts and minds. He invites us to cast all our anxiety on Him because He cares for us, and to make our requests known to Him with prayer and thanksgiving.

I have prayed for you that the Lord would touch your body with His healing hand according to His will, that He would grant you relief from the pressure you feel, and that He would replace anxiety with the quiet confidence that comes from trusting Him. May He give you rest in Christ, who alone is our salvation and our hope, and may He strengthen you to walk in faith and obedience each day.

Continue to seek Him in prayer and in His Word, and to rest in His promises. He is faithful, and He hears those who call upon Him through His Son.

Father, in the name of Jesus, I ask that You bring healing to this one who is suffering, calm the stress and quiet the anxious thoughts, and fill the heart with Your peace that passes understanding. Grant strength for today and hope for tomorrow, and draw this soul ever closer to Yourself. Amen.

Thank you for sharing this honest prayer for healing, for relief from stress, and for freedom from anxiety. I am joining you in prayer and asking the Lord to meet you in each of these areas with His grace and care.

Scripture gives us strong ground for bringing physical needs to Jesus. Isaiah wrote that He would bear our griefs and carry our infirmities, and Matthew under the guidance of the Holy Spirit applies that prophecy directly to Jesus healing the sick who were brought to Him, including Peter's mother in law and many others that evening. In that light the bread of communion reminds us that His body was broken for us, and His suffering covers not only forgiveness of sin but also the healing of our bodies. God is still concerned with our physical needs today, and He is still able to heal. When Jesus walked on earth He never used His miraculous power to meet His own need, but He freely used it to meet the needs of others, which shows His compassion toward us in our weakness.

At the same time the Bible keeps us from presuming that God will bring immediate physical healing in every case in the way we expect. Paul prayed three times for the Lord to remove what he called a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan that buffeted him, and the Lord did not remove it. Not everyone is given the same gift of healing, as Paul teaches when he asks rhetorically if all have gifts of healing and the answer is clearly no. There is much about healing we do not fully understand, including why some are healed quickly and others are not. What we can hold firmly is that God does heal, and He heals in different ways. Only one healing in the ministry of Jesus is recorded as gradual, but we see that He is willing to work gradually as well as instantly. Much healing comes through the natural processes He built into our bodies, and that process is still divine because He is the one who created nature and its laws. Whether healing comes in a moment or step by step, or brings peace to the mind and emotions even while the body is still waiting, it is His work.

Your request also names stress and anxiety, and Scripture shows a close connection between the health of the soul and the health of the body. John wrote to Gaius that he wished above all things that he would prosper and be in good health even as his soul prospered. That is not a blanket promise that every believer will always be healthy, it was John's personal wish and prayer for his friend, but it does point to a real relationship between our inner life and our physical well being. Proverbs says a joyful heart is good like a medicine, and we now know scientifically how much our thoughts, worries, and burdens can affect our bodies. The Lord cares for the whole person, physical, emotional, and spiritual, and He invites us to care for the spiritual life as diligently as we care for the body. When we feed the spiritual life through prayer and trust in His Word, it strengthens us to face pressure and fear.

So I am praying for you that God will touch your body according to His wise and loving will, that He will bring a gradual or immediate work as He sees best, and that He will use every means He has provided for your good. I am also praying that He will guard your mind and heart, quiet the stress that weighs on you, and lift the anxiety that troubles you, giving you a merry and peaceful heart that brings strength to your whole being. May you know His presence as the One who bore your sicknesses and sorrows, who understands your struggle, and who is able to give rest to your soul as you trust Him day by day.

Father, in the name of Jesus I bring this dear one before You. You see the need for healing in the body, the weight of stress, and the burden of anxiety. Lay Your healing hand upon this life, work in Your perfect way and timing, whether instantly or gradually, and let Your peace guard heart and mind. Fill the soul with Your strength and joy, and let that inner health bring refreshment to the body. Help this one to rest in Your care, to cast every care upon You, and to walk in trust that You are working for good. Amen.

We thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf and we are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer for healing over your body and for relief from stress and deliverance from anxiety. We have continued to lift you up before the Father asking for His healing touch upon your body and for His peace to calm your heart and mind and to carry the burdens of stress and anxiety that have weighed upon you. We take comfort in the promises of scripture that we can cast all our anxiety on Him because He cares for us in 1 Pet 5:7 and that the peace of God will guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus in Phil 4:7 and that He will restore health and heal wounds in Jer 30:17.

If your request was answered and you have experienced healing and relief from stress and anxiety please post a praise report and let us all know so we may rejoice with you. If your request does not yet seem to have been answered please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer.

May God bless you as you continue to seek Him through His Son Jesus Christ. We pray that the Lord will grant you rest as He promises in Matt 11:28 and that you will know His healing presence and His perfect peace day by day. We ask all these things in Jesus Name Amen
