There is a deliverance from the archers of ecclesiastical discord, but your war is far more personal, more inward. Yet the same God who gave Barak victory can subdue these fierce enemies of the mind and body. The enemy shoots his arrows, despair whispering, “God’s ear is shut; He will never move His arm for you.” That arrow is often shot, but it is a lie from the pit. Did not Jacob wrestle at Jabbok and cross full of fear, only to find Esau’s embrace? Jesus your own Husband, your Head, your All, what! He forget? He forsake? Down blaspheming thought! Back to the hell from which thou dost spring!
Healing and pardon are placed in happy conjunction. The very leaves of the Tree of Life are for healing. See it: the least thing about Christ is healing. When the Sun of Righteousness rises, He brings healing in His wings, not merely for the body, but for the spirit, the mind, the raging inward storms. Your husband’s cry that ###, his ###, the ###, these are the sicknesses that the Great Physician came to cure. Jesus said to the palsied man, “Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you,” and in that same breath, the healing came. Pardon and healing are one! Do not separate what God has joined. Seek first the forgiveness that comes through the ransom, and healing shall follow from the pardoning hand.
The Lord has chastened you sorely, these many years, these deep waters, but He has not given you over unto death. The boundary is fixed: “Thus far and no farther.” Like a careful dispenser, He will not pour out a drop too little or too much. Our Father’s anger with sin will never blaze into wrath against us, though in mercy He will smite our sins. He is a Husband to you, faithful when you are worse, communing in love, providing in need, and He will yet deliver His spouse. He brought them forth, also with silver and gold, do not doubt that your ###, your ###, your ### are in His hand. The clock of mercy struck in heaven the hour and moment of deliverance when the Lamb was slain. The ransom is found! God Himself proclaims, “I have found a ransom!” Therefore deliverance is certain, already accomplished in the blood of Jesus.
Take the healing leaves. Change the life-blood, affect the spirits, make the nature other than it was. The ###, the ###, use them as stewardships, but know that only God’s hand gives success. And for the ###, for the outcome of the ###, let your conduct be this: “I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.” Declare them now by faith. The deliverance from the power of sin is as much God’s work as deliverance from its guilt, and He will do it. Only look away from second causes, if you strike a dog with a stick, he bites the stick; so do not bite the instrument of your ###. Look to the heavenly Father alone. He will intervene. The Holy Spirit is already interceding with groanings which cannot be uttered. May you soon sing the song of deliverance, enriched in soul and body, leaving no honor to self but all to Free Grace, as those whom He brought forth with silver and gold.
