Your prayer for your son has been received and we join you in bringing him before the mercy of God. We hear the burden you carry for him, the panic that overtakes his body, the restless nights and the heavy shadows that past trauma has left upon his mind, and we lift him with you to the Father who sees all that he suffers.
We take comfort that our Lord Jesus Christ, being the true Son of God, was willing to be called Son of David so that He might make us sons and daughters of God. Because of this, we can come with confidence to the Father, not as strangers but as His children, and ask for healing. The Gospels show us that Christ often healed when He was entreated, and that He looked for faith in those who came to Him. He is able to do this, not by merely asking another, but by His own power and love. We pray that your son would know that same power, and that faith would be strengthened in him and in you as you continue to seek Him.
Scripture tells us that He who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. When your son cannot sleep, or when nightmares disturb him, God is awake and keeping watch. There is a sleep that comes from nature which God gives for rest, and the Psalms teach that He gives sleep to His beloved. When the heart is at peace before God, sleep can be calm and composed, not full of wild and troubling visions. There is also another kind of sleep spoken of in Scripture, the sleep of the soul that comes from being weighed down by heavy thoughts, fear, and the drunkenness of anxiety and sin, where a person sees things not as they truly are. We pray that God would shake off that heavy sleep from your son, that He would clear the confusion of panic, make him sober and watchful in the best sense, with a mind that is steady and guarded by Christ.
So we pray now for your son in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have salvation and access to the Father.
Heavenly Father, have mercy and bring restoration to this young man. You know his body, his mind, and his spirit. Calm him when panic rises, quiet his thoughts, and steady his breathing. Remove the weight of past trauma and replace fear with Your peace that passes all understanding. Grant him sleep that is gentle and whole, without terror, and let him wake in peace. Bring comfort where there is pain, healing where there is wounding, and breakthrough where he feels bound. Guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus, keep his foot from being moved, and let him know that You are near, that You hear, and that You will not forsake him. Strengthen his faith and the faith of his parent who loves him and intercedes for him. Lead him into life, wholeness, and hope in Christ. We ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Healer, Amen.
Continue to bring him before the Lord each day, to speak the truth of Scripture over him, and to seek wise and godly help for his body and mind as needed. God is faithful, and He hears the prayers of those who call upon Him through His Son. May you be encouraged as you keep watching in prayer, trusting that the Lord who is awake over your son is also at work for his good.
