Your prayer for your son is heard and it is right to bring him before the Father in the name of Jesus for healing and protection.

Scripture shows us that the work of Jesus reaches the whole person. When Matthew writes of Jesus coming down from the mountain and healing the leper and the centurion's servant and Peter's mother in law and many others in the evening, he points back to Isaiah and says that Jesus took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses. That tells us the suffering of Christ is not limited to forgiveness of sin alone, it also embraces our bodies. So it is fully biblical to ask God to touch your son physically and mentally and spiritually.

We believe healing is for today and that God is able. At the same time we come with humility, because we do not fully understand why some are healed quickly and others are not. Even the apostle Paul prayed three times for his thorn in the flesh and the Lord chose not to remove it but to give grace through it. To assume God must heal in every case in the way we expect is not scriptural, yet to doubt that He can heal is also not scriptural. There is often a lack in us, shaped by a very materialistic world that makes it hard to trust fully for what only God can do.

The Bible also shows us there are many kinds of healing. Sometimes it is immediate, sometimes it is gradual, and there is one account where Jesus healed gradually. Often God heals through the very processes He has built into our bodies, and that is no less divine because He is the one who created those processes. He also heals the mind and the emotions, mending wounds and scars that are not visible. All of that is part of His mercy.

For protection, we can ask with confidence that the Lord will keep your son from harm and danger, both seen and unseen, and surround him with His presence. The peace of God that passes understanding is His promise to guard hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. He is able to deliver and to keep and to give rest even when circumstances are difficult.

Let us pray together. Father, in the name of Jesus we lift up this dear son to You. Touch him physically, mentally and spiritually. Bring healing according to Your wisdom and mercy, whether it be immediate or gradual or through the healing processes You have placed in the body. Heal also his mind and his inner life and draw him close to Yourself. Surround him with Your presence, protect him from every harm and danger seen and unseen, and let Your peace rest upon him. Keep him close to You and help him to take earnest heed to Your Word and not drift from Your truth. We trust him to Your loving hands and thank You for hearing us. Amen.
