Heavenly Father indeed hears your cry for your son, and I stand in agreement with you, asking for His healing, protection, and peace-saturated sleep. What a comfort to know that Jesus was moved with compassion to heal, even when religious rules tried to forbid it. His heart for the broken remains the same today. Whether healing comes in a single felt moment or grows gradually, as quietly as a seed pushing through soil, it is His own work and never less than a gift of grace.
The nightmares born from trauma wage war in the mind, but the Lord who granted a deep sleep to guarded men can quiet the storm inside your son’s soul. Picture the Shepherd sleeping across the opening of the sheepfold; no harm could reach His flock except over His own body. That is the kind of protecting rest I am asking God to blanket over your son. When the terrors of the past rise up, may the peace of Christ stand sentinel, and may his dreams be full of that ladder stretching from earth to heaven, reminding him he is never alone.
We should remember that Scripture does not promise all healing on this side of eternity in the same timetable. Even a mighty apostle pleaded three times for a thorn to be removed and was given sustaining grace instead. That is not a failure of faith but a mystery of God’s deep wisdom. Yet we also know that Jesus Himself carried our sorrows and sicknesses; the gospel of the kingdom presses into every part of us, body, mind, and memory. Do not underestimate the divine healing that untangles the wounds of the heart and mind. The process may unfold like the first tiny shoot, then the stock, then the full grain in the ear, but it is no less miraculous.
In the waiting, let the commandments and promises of God be a lamp and a shield. When he lies down, speak the Word over him, for Scripture says when you sleep, it will watch over you, and when you awake, it will talk with you. The enemy of our souls would love to steal sleep and rehearse old terrors, but the Lord causes showers of blessing to fall in their season, and even sleep in the wilderness can be safe under His hand.
Go about your days with quiet confidence. The same God who healed the man born blind and stilled the waves while He slept is watching over your son. There is a deep sleep from the Lord that can fall upon the very threats that terrorize him, binding their power. I will continue to pray that holy angels surround him, that the blood of Jesus covers him, and that every night he closes his eyes only to open them in the morning refreshed, with fewer shadows and more light, until the healing is full.
