Prayer Focus: God, Thank You for loving me. Thank You for loving me, Jesus. God, I ask You in Jesus’ name please bless me with everything that I stand in need of and everything You want me to have. God bless me to prosper, walk in excellent health, and never stop growing in the love, grace, wisdom, and knowledge of Christ Jesus. God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, so that I can trust You with all my heart, acknowledge You in all my ways, and lean not to my own understanding. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. You ask for healing, protection, and sleep for your son, troubled by nightmares. Consider the nature of sleep itself: for those who fear the Lord, whose soul is orderly and not stifled by worldly cares, sleep is composed and dreams are not filled with terror. The holy angels guard such a one, and the mind rests in the light of God. But when the heart is heavy with the drunkenness of despair or the dark visions of past wounds, the soul drifts into a different kind of sleep, one where the enemy can assail with phantoms. This is not God’s will for your son; He is the keeper of Israel who neither slumbers nor sleeps, and He bids us watch and be sober.

The Lord Jesus is able to work this healing. When He walked among us, He required only faith: “Believe ye that I am able to do this?” He did not say He would entreat the Father, but that He Himself had power. Approach Him with that confidence. Yet remember that it is also in our power always to have it day. Do not let your son suffer his foot to be moved by despair; shake off that evil sleep which numbs the soul to the reality of God’s love. Pull up the thorns of anxious recollection, and seek the sobriety that is the intensity of watchfulness. For who among the saints, when they opened their eyes, was not immediately wakeful, their hearts free from the excess that breeds nightmares?

This sleep of terror is not from nature but from our own choice. Let your son not despise the pleasant land of peace that Christ offers through indolence or fear. The death of the body is now but a slumber for the faithful; how much more should nightly rest be a foretaste of that calm? Surround him with prayers and the songs of heaven, teach him to call upon the angels who minister to the heirs of salvation. But above all, let him hear the voice of the Shepherd and keep His commandments. For he that heareth the Son loveth the Father, and in that love is perfect tranquility.

Do not drown in despondency. As Christ stood apart from the disciples to show their weakness, He now patiently waits for your son to turn fully to the light. Let him not sleep the sleep of the wicked, where one does neither good nor evil, but rise and stand steadfast. The Son of God became Son of Man that you might be called a child of God; will He not then give rest to your child? That rest is near, if you refuse to let your foot be moved and trust in the arm that neither slumbers nor sleeps.

It is a heavy burden to watch your son suffer through sleepless nights and the torment of past trauma, but you are bringing him to the only One who can truly heal and protect. The Scriptures show us that even the Son of Man could sleep peacefully while a storm threatened to swamp the boat. That same authority over the inner tempests is yours to claim now. Ask the Lord to speak calm over your son’s heart and mind each night, just as He rebuked the wind and waves. His voice is still the same, and He can command the chaos inside to be still.

Think of the good Shepherd who sleeps in the opening of the sheepfold. No predator can reach the flock without passing over His body first. Your son is not unguarded while he sleeps. The angels you asked for are not a mere figure of speech; they encamp around those who fear the Lord. The deep sleep that once fell upon Saul’s entire camp to protect David is still a weapon the Lord can use for our defense. He can cause a divine quietness to descend on your son’s room and seal it from every disturbing presence, giving him rest that is both physical and supernatural.

Healing of the mind often works like that blind man at Bethsaida whose sight returned only gradually. At first he saw men like trees walking, and then Jesus touched him again and everything became clear. Your son’s freedom from nightmares and the wounds beneath them may come in stages, not all at once. Do not lose heart if the change seems slow. There is an established process of divine healing, even within the mind and emotions, and the same Creator who designed the body to mend itself over time also knows how to restore the soul. Sometimes the most profound healings are the ones that grow quietly, like a seed pushing up through the soil while you sleep and go about your day: first the blade, then the ear, then the full corn.

The prophet tells us that the Messiah himself bore our griefs and carried our sorrows. When Jesus broke the bread, He said, “This is my body, which is broken for you.” That wholeness He purchased was never meant to be limited to spiritual forgiveness only. It stretches into the hidden places, the memories, the fears, the scars that no one else can see. The same body that was wounded so that we might be made whole is sufficient for the inner torment of PTSD. You can lay hold of that promise each time you come to the Lord’s table, remembering that His brokenness is the ground of your son’s healing.

When the mind is plagued, the word of God itself acts as a guardian. The book of Proverbs says that when you sleep, wisdom will keep you; when you awake, it will talk with you. Plant the promises of Scripture in your son’s heart during the daytime, and they will work in the night watches. You may not always see the effect immediately, but the word is alive and active, and it can reframe the mind even during sleep. Replacing the enemy’s lies with truth is part of the healing process.

You are doing the right thing by persisting in prayer, just as the blind man was brought to Jesus by others. We do not always understand why one person receives instant relief while another walks a longer road. The apostle Paul pleaded three times for a thorn to be removed, yet the Lord’s answer was not removal but sufficient grace. That does not mean we stop asking. It means we trust the Healer more than the healing, and we believe that His love for your son is deeper than any trauma. He knows the memories that replay at night, and He weeps with those who weep even as He works to restore.

Continue to declare the covering of His blood over the door of your son’s room and over his sleeping hours. Ask the Lord to fill his dreams with light and to set a guard over his imagination. The Holy Spirit can take the scattered fragments of a wounded soul and knit them back together with peace. There may well come a morning when you both realize that the nightmares have lifted, not with a thunderclap but quietly, as naturally as waking from a deep sleep refreshed. Until then, the Shepherd is awake and the gate is secure. Your son will dwell safely in the wilderness of his nights, and showers of blessing will come in their season.
