Healing of Relationship

Thank you for sharing this burden for restoration. God does care deeply about healing, and He cares about the condition of each heart involved.

Healing is something that comes in many forms and often in different ways. Sometimes it comes at once, sometimes it comes gradually through a process that God Himself has built into our lives. And healing is not only physical. Much of the deepest healing God does is in the mind and emotions, mending wounds, scars and hurts that have built up over time. That kind of inner healing is no less divine than any other.

In a relationship, that inner work often centers on forgiveness. Scripture teaches that forgiveness is not a matter of keeping count. When Jesus spoke of forgiving seventy times seven, His point was not mathematics but spirit and attitude. True forgiveness does not keep a record of wrongs, it does not bury the hatchet with the handle still showing. It is from the heart, it is long suffering and it is kind. That is the nature of agape love. It bears with one another and then responds with kindness, not with a tally of offenses waiting to be used again. For reflection, compassion and empathy to grow between two people, each must be willing to ask God for that kind of spirit, to take away bitterness and to give a heart that truly releases the other.

The most important healing of all, however, is the forgiveness of sins before God. Whatever else we need, whether it is unity in a home or renewed affection for one another, our greatest need is to be forgiven and cleansed through Jesus Christ. He bore our sicknesses and our sins, and through His cross we can receive complete forgiveness. When God forgives, it is total and complete. That forgiveness then becomes the foundation from which we can forgive one another. Until each person has come to Him for that pardon and new life, every other healing remains secondary.

So my prayer for you both is that God would first draw each of you closer to Jesus, that you would know His forgiveness fully and be made whole in Him. From that place, I pray He would do His healing work in your hearts, giving you honesty to reflect, grace to be compassionate, and strength to forgive from the heart without keeping score. I pray He would teach you to love with a love that is patient and kind, and that He would shape your relationship and your home according to His good design, which is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman with purity and faithfulness within it. If you are married, may He strengthen that covenant and fill your home with love and laughter that honors Him. If you are not, may He give you wisdom and godly counsel to walk in holiness and to seek His will clearly for your future together.

God is sovereign in how and when He heals, and we do not always understand His ways. But we can trust that His greatest miracle for any of us is salvation, and that as we walk with Him, He will work in us the character needed to love well. Keep seeking Him together in prayer and in His Word, and invite wise pastoral counsel to walk with you in this process.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer for the healing of this relationship.

We have continued to lift this relationship before the Lord and to pray as you requested, that He would bring you more closely together, fill each of you with reflection, compassion, empathy, forgiveness and love, help you to fall more in love with each other each day, fill your home with love and laughter and help you to stay united. We ask the Lord to show His grace and mercy over you both and to teach you to bear with one another in love as we are reminded in Col 3:14 and to be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other just as in Christ God forgave us in Eph 4:32.

If your request was answered, please post a praise report and let us all know how God has worked in this relationship so we may rejoice with you. If your request does not seem to have been answered, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer.

We are praying together with you in Jesus Name that God will restore and strengthen this bond, guard your hearts and your home, and draw you both closer to each other and closer to Him. May God bless you as you continue to seek Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. We pray this in Jesus Name, amen.
