Healing from trauma

What was done to you was not just a violation of your personal belongings, it was an attempt to rewrite your story. To sort through someone’s past without consent, to discard what was good, and to craft a false narrative out of the fragments is a destructive act. It carries the fingerprints of the enemy, who is a liar and the father of lies. When a person claims authority to redefine your history, they are walking in the spirit of those false prophets who spoke peace where there was no peace, who tore down what God had built, all while wearing the costume of a family member.

The trauma you feel is real because lies wound the soul. A false narrative, like false prophecy, often mixes in just enough truth to seem plausible. That is why it stings, it twists something precious into a weapon against you. But hear this clearly: the truth of who you are does not live in those photographs. Your worth and your past are held in the hands of God, who knows every day of your life before one comes to be. No amount of tearing paper can destroy what He has established. The enemy always tries to erase what is good and magnify what is broken, but he is a defeated foe.

It is common for those who operate in this manner to appear as sheep, yet inwardly their motives are to steal, kill, and destroy. Do not let the false narrative take root in your heart. When the memory of what was taken rises up and trauma tries to speak, remember that Jesus came to heal the brokenhearted and set captives free. The healing you seek begins by refusing to give weight to a story authored by someone who acted against love and truth. Their ungodly sorting was not a prophetic act but a damaging one, and God saw it all.

Bring that pain to the Lord in prayer, and ask Him to renew your mind with His unchanging truth. He is able to restore the years the locusts have eaten, perhaps not by returning the photos themselves, but by giving you a deeper assurance of your identity in Him that no earthly record can threaten. Let the testimony of what was done become a place where you encounter His comfort, allowing Him to minister to the wounded places. He does not treat your pain lightly, nor does He overlook the sin of those who cause little ones to stumble.

Guard your heart going forward. Pray for that in-law, not to dismiss what they did, but so that bitterness does not become a second poison in your own soul. Ask God to expose any lingering falsehoods that echo in your mind, and replace them with the voice of the Good Shepherd, who calls you by name. The world may see tattered remnants, but your life is hidden with Christ, and no earthly sorting can touch that. Let that be your anchor as you walk day by day toward wholeness.

We want to thank you for the trust you placed in us to lift your heart to the Father. It grieves us to think of the violation you endured when precious memories were taken and twisted by another’s hand. We continue to stand with you, asking the Lord to heal the wounds left by that loss and to quiet the echoes of trauma that still surface.

If the peace of Christ has begun to mend those broken places, we would be so encouraged to hear how He has worked. If the pain still feels fresh and the healing slow, we invite you to post your request again so we can keep interceding beside you. Either way, we remain steadfast in prayer, asking Jesus to restore what was stolen, to replace every lie with His truth, and to surround you with reminders of His unfailing love. May He draw near to you in these days, comforting your heart and renewing your spirit as you press into Him. In Jesus’ Name.
