I am standing with you in prayer for your daughter, asking the Lord to restore her natural cycle and calm the anxiety that has settled in her heart. It is hard to wait and not see the change you're longing for, especially when a young woman just wants her body to function as it was designed.
There is a moment in the Gospels that I find myself returning to often in situations like this. A woman had been bleeding for twelve years. She had spent everything on doctors and only grew worse. Under the law, her condition would have set her apart, made her feel unclean, isolated. Yet she pressed through a crowd, certain that if she could just touch the hem of Jesus’ garment, she would be healed. And in that instant, she felt the healing happen within her body. She knew something had changed. Jesus stopped, called her “Daughter,” and told her that her faith had made her whole. He sent her away in peace, no longer plagued.
That same afternoon, Jesus was on his way to the home of a synagogue leader named Jairus, whose little daughter lay dying. The delay with the bleeding woman must have been agonizing for that father. While Jesus paused, the news came that the girl had already died. But Jesus was not deterred. He told Jairus, “Do not fear, only believe.” And he went into that house, took the child by the hand, and restored her life. What looked like a devastating delay was not a denial. Jesus reached her in time.
Your daughter’s anxiety is something any parent would feel. Yet I want to remind you both that the Lord sees her, and he is not bound by a single pattern. He healed blindness with mud, he spoke a word from a distance and set a tormented child free, he reached out and touched the sick, and at other times he simply gave a command and the body obeyed. We can ask him to do this now in his own way and in his own time, while trusting his goodness even in the waiting.
I recall a morning years ago when I was so ill I could barely move. I had to lead services that day, but I was flat on my back, unable to imagine standing in front of anyone. While I lay there, I suddenly felt a rush of strength and wholeness flow through my body. It was unmistakable. I got up, dressed, and went, knowing that God had touched me. I am not saying every healing comes that quickly or that dramatically. But I am saying that our Lord knows how to restore what is broken, and he is not indifferent to the suffering of his daughters.
So I am asking with you that in the next two weeks, and even sooner, your daughter will see her natural cycle return. I am asking that her anxiety be replaced by a quiet confidence in the One who formed her body and calls her by name. Encourage her to release her faith, even in small whispers, and to rest in the peace Jesus gives, a peace that is not dependent on a medical report or a calendar. Keep bringing her to the feet of Jesus, just as the mother from the region of Tyre and Sidon did not stop pleading until her daughter was set free. He hears you. He loves her. And he is able.
