Beloved of All
Thank you for entrusting us with this heavy burden and for the privilege of praying for your wife. To have a wife who loves the Lord and walks with Him is a beautiful gift and a great blessing, and I can hear how deeply you love and cherish her.
I know how painful and frightening this diagnosis is. Scripture is honest that in this fallen world sickness comes to both the righteous and the unrighteous. Cancer is not a measure of a person's faith or of God's favor. It is part of the brokenness we all live in, and even those who love God most dearly still face these valleys.
That is why it helps to lift our eyes to who God is. He is enthroned over all creation, reigning with power and glory. When we ascribe glory and strength to Him, we begin to see our problems in the light of His power rather than in the light of our own weakness and inability. The promise of Scripture is that the Lord will give strength to His people. David prayed in his later years, do not cast me off when my strength fails, and he learned to say, I will go in the strength of the Lord God. That is the place of blessing, when a person knows his own frailty and finds his strength in the Lord. His strength is made perfect in our weakness, and those who trust in Him can go from strength to strength even while passing through a valley of weeping, and God can make even that dry place a place of refreshment.
I am praying that God will be your wife's strength right now in her weakness, and your strength as you stand beside her. The doctors are seeking to build her strength so she can better endure treatment, and we can pray for wisdom for them. Wisdom is profitable to direct, and like sharpening a dull tool so the work takes less strain, God can give wisdom to know the best and most effective way forward. May He guide every decision they make and use their skill for her good.
We also remember how much of the ministry of Jesus was given to healing the sick and the afflicted. He touched and healed those who came to Him, and He still hears our prayers today. Like those who once gathered waiting for the water to be stirred, what matters most is not a particular method but a living faith that reaches out to God and trusts Him to do what is right. We bring your wife to Him in that faith, asking for His healing touch upon her lungs, for the cancer to be restrained and removed, for her breathing to be eased, and for her body to be strengthened.
Let us pray together. Father, we come before Your throne in the name of Jesus and ascribe to You all glory and strength. You reign over all things and nothing is beyond Your power. We lift up this precious wife and daughter in Christ to You. You know her body, her right lung and her left lung, every cell, every breath. Lord, we ask for Your healing hand upon her. Ease her breathing, strengthen her body, and if it is Your will, make a way for further treatment to help her. Give wisdom and clarity to her doctors and nurses, and give peace and endurance to her and to her husband. Let them know Your presence in this valley, that their strength is in You, and that You are with them day by day. We trust her into Your loving care and ask for Your will to be done, for Your name to be glorified, and for Your comfort to guard their hearts. Amen.
