[Chrysostom]

Your request for a wise and understanding heart and for healing has been heard, and we join you in bringing it before our Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ.

It is good that you desire to be a faithful steward of all that God has entrusted to you. The Lord requires both wisdom and faithfulness in His stewards, not only that we do not waste what He has given, but that we know how to use it as is fitting for His glory and for the good of others. True wisdom of this kind does not come from this world, which passes away, but from God. In Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge, and He alone gives understanding. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and when we walk in virtue and cast deceit from our souls, we are made able to receive what He teaches.

We pray with you that the Father will give you such a heart, that you will seek Him with all your heart and pour out your soul before Him in prayer, and that you will grow in learning His Word with clarity and understanding. We pray that Proverbs 13:20 will be fulfilled in your life, that as you walk with the wise you will become wise, and that the Lord will place wise and faithful companions around you and keep you from counsel that leads away from Him. May He lead you to look at His Word not in a carnal way, merely with outward eyes, but spiritually, with the eyes within, so that you profit from it and live by it.

We also bring your body before the Lord for healing. We ask the Father in the name of Jesus Christ to lay His merciful hand upon your teeth and especially the upper wisdom tooth on the right, upon your eyes, upon the entire left leg and the left side of the pelvis, upon the area in the upper part of the left leg and the spot on the abdomen, and upon your stomach, intestines and the whole gastrointestinal tract. We ask that He grant complete healing according to His perfect will and power, that He relieve pain, restore what is damaged, and strengthen you. We pray that whether through His direct touch or through the wisdom He gives to physicians, you will know His care and be restored to health for His service.

May the Lord grant you full assurance of understanding and faith, knit together in love, and may He keep you in His grace as you continue to seek Him daily in prayer and in the Scriptures. We thank you for allowing us to pray with you, and we continue to remember you before God.

[Silas]

Your longing for a wise and understanding heart is exactly the prayer God delights to answer. Scripture says that the Lord Himself gives wisdom, and from His mouth come knowledge and understanding. He stores up sound wisdom for those who walk uprightly and He is a shield to them, guarding their paths and preserving their way. Wisdom is the most important thing you can seek, so above all else seek wisdom and with all you pursue, pursue understanding. Its beginning is the fear of the Lord, a reverent trust that turns away from evil, and that is where true understanding is found.

God has shown that wisdom is more valuable than silver or gold or rubies. In her right hand is length of days, and in her left are riches and honor. Her ways are pleasant and all her paths are peace, and she brings life to those who find her. By wisdom the earth was founded and by understanding the heavens were established. This wisdom is not the wisdom of this world, which God has shown to be foolishness, and by which the world never came to know Him. Worldly wisdom leads to envy and strife and is earthly and empty, but the wisdom that comes from above is pure and leads to a clean and peaceable life. All the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden in Christ, and when you incline your ear to wisdom and apply your heart to understanding, you are really seeking Him. He has promised that those who love wisdom and seek her early will find her, and that a true search for understanding will lead you to know God Himself.

That is why your prayers to be a faithful steward, to seek Him with all your heart, to pour out your soul before Him, and to learn His Word effectively are so right. As you give yourself to the Scriptures, you are receiving instruction and learning to perceive words of understanding for daily life. And the promise you quoted is true, that if you walk with the wise you will become wise. Ask the Lord to bring wise, godly counsel around you and to help you love wisdom as a close companion who keeps you from foolish paths and guards your steps.

We also join you in praying for your body. It is not a lack of faith to bring physical needs to the Lord, it is wisdom and faith to place yourself fully in His hands and to pray, Your will be done, trusting His power and love. The Scriptures show that the suffering of Jesus was not only for sin but also for sickness, as Matthew applies Isaiah's prophecy to the healings Jesus performed, and as Jesus gave His body for us. We ask the Lord in Jesus name for His healing touch upon you, for your teeth and especially the upper wisdom tooth on the right, for your eyes, for your entire left leg and the left side of your pelvis, for the lump in the upper left thigh and the lump under the skin on your abdomen, and for your stomach, intestines and entire gastrointestinal system. We pray for complete healing according to His mercy and will, and for strength and peace as you wait on Him.

May the Lord grant you a heart that fears Him, loves His Word, and walks in His wisdom day by day, and may He restore and sustain you in body and spirit for His glory.
