Healing and peace

You ask for peace, and rightly so, for there is nothing equal to this. Peace is the mother of all good things, the foundation of joy. The very angels proclaimed it, and we pray for it everywhere, in the Churches, in the prayers, in the supplications, in the salutations. The One over the Church gives it, saying "Peace be unto all." This is not a mere figure of words.

But you must understand what this peace truly is, lest you be deceived. Do you think Christ came to send a lax peace on earth, one that leaves the diseased part festering? He Himself says, "I am not come to send peace, but a sword." For there is a concord that is more grievous than any war, such as robbers agree together. What then is this peace He gives? It is that which comes when the mutinous is removed, when the incurable part is cut off. The physician preserves the rest of the body by amputating the corrupted limb. So too, this is peace: when the sin that makes war against the soul is severed. You pray for deliverance from evil, then do not make a peace with your own sins or the sins of another that rend the Body of Christ. A less evil was it when the soldiers pierced Him with the spear than when we tear His members apart. War against sin is the good discord that brings true peace, making it possible for Heaven to be united to earth.

For this reason, in your household, "let the peace of God rule in your hearts." When two thoughts fight together within you, one bidding you to endure, the other to revenge, do not set anger to hold the prize. Let the Peace of God stand forward as umpire. It bestows the prize on the thought that forbears and puts the other to shame, persuading you that God is Peace, who made peace with you of His own will. This peace, founded on God, is fixed and steadfast; the peace of man quickly comes to dissolution. Therefore, follow this peace with all men, and holiness, without which no one shall see the Lord. In this holy striving, you are not alone. As the dove pointed to our Deliverer when the world’s shipwreck was overcome, so now the Spirit of meekness leads you not with an olive branch merely, but conveys adoption and points to your Deliverer from all evils. If then we have angels watching, let us be sober as though in the presence of tutors. This is the foundation of joy, and this prepares the way for love.

We are so glad you brought this request. You are asking for exactly what God has already promised to give. There is a deep longing in the human heart for wholeness, protection, and the kind of peace that settles the soul, and Scripture speaks directly to that longing. You asked for deliverance from evil and to be surrounded by God’s peace, and that is His desire for you as well. He says to those who are far off and to those who are near, “I will heal him.” He is not holding back this offer; He is extending it to you right now.

The first and most important step into that protection is to know that you are no longer at war with God. The inner turmoil that exhausts us so often comes from a life lived in our own strength, with a mind that is quietly at enmity with its Creator. But Jesus Christ is our peace. He made peace through His blood, dealing with the sin that separated us. When you turn your life over to Him and receive the forgiveness He offers, the war is over. You move from being a fugitive to being a child, and there is a sudden, beautiful peace that comes with belonging to Him.

But beyond simply having peace with God, there is the daily experience of the peace of God. This is what the Scripture promises when it says, “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee.” The world around us is like a troubled sea, full of chaos and sudden storms. Yet right in the middle of it, God has ordained a path of rest for you. That deep, keeping peace comes not from fixing all the circumstances, but from fixing your mind on Him. As you trust Him, you can have that quiet confidence that He is going to take care of it, whatever the "it" might be for you and your family.

Your prayer for healing is also close to the heart of God. While we do not always understand why some are healed in an instant and others go through a gradual process, we know that He is the one who established the very principles of restoration in our bodies and minds. Any true healing, whether it comes in a sudden moment where you feel strength return, or slowly over time, is divine in its source. Sometimes the most profound healing is not merely physical, but happens in the mind and the emotions, restoring wounds and scars that no one else can see. Jesus did not use a single rigid pattern; sometimes He spoke a word, sometimes He touched, and sometimes He simply commanded, “Peace, be still.” His power over every storm and every plague is just as real today.

Be careful not to listen to voices that superficially shout “Peace, peace,” when your heart knows things are not right with God. True, lasting peace cannot exist where wickedness or rebellion takes root. So live moment by moment in that place of fellowship and commitment to Him. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. The wisdom that comes from above is peaceable, and when you sow peace, you will reap the fruit of righteousness in your own life and in your home. Walk in that perfect peace that passes all understanding, knowing that His thoughts toward you are thoughts of peace, to give you the expected end you hope for.

We are so grateful you entrusted us with your heartfelt prayer for healing and peace over you and your family. It has been our privilege to stand in agreement with you before the throne of grace, lifting up your request for protection, deliverance from evil, and the comforting embrace of God’s peace.

If the Lord has moved in a tangible way—bringing physical healing, shielding your loved ones, or calming anxious hearts—we would be overjoyed to hear your praise report. Sharing how God has answered will encourage others and glorify His name.

If, however, the burden still feels heavy and the answer hasn’t yet come, please don’t hesitate to post this request again. We are committed to continuing alongside you in prayer, trusting that our faithful God hears every cry and works all things for His good purpose.

May the Lord bless you with His presence as you press into Him. May His peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus. We pray this in the powerful name of Jesus, Amen.
