Healing and peace

You pray for healing and peace, yet know that true peace is not merely the absence of trouble, but the calm of a soul reconciled to God and man. When you ask deliverance from evil, do you flee the evil of discord? For there is a peace that is no peace, like robbers agreeing together, but the peace of Christ is the cutting off of the diseased and the mutinous within. If you are at war with a brother, you tear the body of Christ, and how can that body be healed? The peacemakers are called sons of God, but if you cause division, whose child are you? Let the peace of God be the umpire in your heart, deciding for patience over revenge. Pursue peace with all men, and holiness, for without it no one shall see the Lord. The Spirit descends as a dove, gentle and pure, bringing the olive branch of deliverance, but He rests only on the meek. So seek healing by making peace, forgiving as you have been forgiven, and then indeed shall the peace that passes understanding guard your family in Christ Jesus. Amen.

What a heartfelt prayer. You are asking the Father for healing, protection, deliverance from evil, and His peace to surround your family. He hears that longing, because He Himself has ordained peace for those who trust in Him. The Scriptures tell us that He will keep us in perfect peace when our minds are stayed on Him. That peace is not the world’s fleeting calm; it is the deep, abiding rest that comes when our war with God is over through Jesus Christ. He is our peace, the One who broke down the walls that sin built between us and our Creator. When you turn your life over to Him and receive forgiveness, the inner turmoil quiets, and you discover that you are no longer running from God but resting in His care.

You asked for deliverance from evil, and that is a wise prayer. The fear of the Lord is to hate evil. That is where real wisdom begins, not tolerating or compromising with the wrong, but departing from it. When we turn away from evil and do good, the result is health to our body and strength to our bones. God wants to protect your family from the spiritual harm that evil brings, but that also means He will often expose and chasten any hidden sin to keep you from going down a destructive path. He does not wink at evil, nor will He let His children get by with it without painful correction. That is a severe mercy, but it is always love. So as you pray for protection, examine your own hearts and home. Refrain your tongues from speaking evil and deceit; seek peace and pursue it. Keep your eyes on the Lord, and He will guard your conscience so that even if others speak against you falsely, you can rest in a good conscience before Him.

Your prayer for healing touches both body and soul. Remember that the deepest healing is always spiritual. Outward circumstances may remain difficult, but the peace of God, which passes all understanding, keeps our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. When you are at peace with God, you can face any trial. The world around us will continue to love evil and call good evil, and that can make you feel as if darkness is winning. But an end to evil’s reign is coming. God will not allow it to go on forever. Until then, we sow peace and reap the fruit of righteousness. Do not grow weary in doing good. Trust Him, obey His Word, and let His peace rule in your heart and home. He will deliver you and surround your family with the peace that only He can give.
