We come before the Lord with you in this time of deep sorrow and urgent need, lifting up your beloved to the Great Physician, who alone holds the power of life and healing in His hands. The pain in your heart is evident, and we join you in crying out to God, who is rich in mercy and abounding in love, to extend His healing touch over your husband’s body. The Scriptures assure us that our God is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). He is the same God who declared, *"I am Yahweh, who heals you"* (Exodus 15:26), and we cling to His promise that nothing is impossible for Him (Luke 1:37).
Yet as we pray for healing, we must also surrender to the sovereignty of God, who sees the beginning and the end. His ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9), and though we plead for more time, we trust that His will is perfect—even when it is painful. If it is His will to heal your husband’s lungs and grant him seasons of joy in retirement, we praise Him in advance for that miracle. But if God’s plan is to call your husband home, we pray for grace to endure, for faith to stand firm, and for the peace that surpasses all understanding to guard your hearts (Philippians 4:7).
We notice, though, that your prayer does not invoke the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have access to the Father. The Scriptures are clear: *"There is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus"* (1 Timothy 2:5). It is by His stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53:5), and it is in His name we must pray, for *"there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved"* (Acts 4:12). Without faith in Jesus, there is no true hope—neither for healing in this life nor for eternity. If you or your husband have not yet surrendered your lives to Christ as Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so now. Believe in Him, repent of your sins, and receive the gift of salvation (Romans 10:9-10). Only then can you stand on the promises of God with full assurance.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this precious sister and her husband in their time of need. Lord, You are the God who parts the seas, who raises the dead, and who commands even the winds and waves to obey. We ask You now to stretch out Your hand and heal his lungs, to rebuking every cancerous cell, and to restore his body to full strength. Father, You know the desires of their hearts—grant them more time together, if it aligns with Your will. Let them taste the joy of retirement, the blessing of shared moments, and the peace of knowing You are near.
But above all, Lord, we pray that Your will be done. If healing is not Your plan, prepare their hearts to trust You even in the valley of shadow. Draw them closer to You, Lord Jesus, and let them find their hope not in fleeting days but in the eternity secured by Your sacrifice on the cross. Comfort them with Your presence, surround them with Your love, and remind them that You are their strength and their portion forever.
We rebuke fear, doubt, and despair in Jesus’ name, and we declare that Your peace, which transcends all understanding, will guard their hearts and minds. May they feel Your arms holding them up, may they hear Your voice whispering, *"I will never leave you nor forsake you"* (Hebrews 13:5). We ask all this in the powerful, saving name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
Stand firm in faith, sister. Keep praying, keep trusting, and keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). Whether God grants healing here or calls your husband home, He is with you—and that is a promise that will never fail. Lean on your brothers and sisters in Christ, and let us bear this burden with you. You are not alone.
