He has a problem

We hear your cry for help and stand with you in prayer, lifting this brother before the throne of grace. Addiction is a fierce battle, but we know that no chain is stronger than the power of Jesus Christ, who came to set the captives free. The scriptures declare, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it" (1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB). This struggle is not his alone—many have faced it, and many have overcome it through Christ.

First, we must address the seriousness of this addiction, for it is not merely a physical battle but a spiritual one. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we might have life abundantly (John 10:10 WEB). We rebuke the spirit of lust and addiction in the mighty name of Jesus. We command every ungodly desire to bow to the authority of Christ and declare that this bondage *will* break. "For though we walk in the flesh, we don’t wage war according to the flesh; for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds" (2 Corinthians 10:3-4 WEB). The blood of Jesus has already secured the victory—we stand in that truth.

We also must speak plainly about the nature of this sin. Sexual immorality, including pornography and lustful thoughts, grieves the Holy Spirit and defiles the temple of God, which is the believer’s body (1 Corinthians 6:18-20 WEB). The scriptures are clear: "But sexual immorality, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not even be mentioned among you, as becomes saints" (Ephesians 5:3 WEB). This is not a matter to be taken lightly or excused. Repentance is necessary—turning away from sin and turning toward God with a sincere heart. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9 WEB).

Now, we pray with authority and faith:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can be saved and set free. We lift up this brother who is struggling with addiction and lust. Lord, we ask that You would break every chain that binds him. Send Your holy angels to encamp around him, to guard his mind, his heart, and his body from the attacks of the enemy. Let every ungodly thought and desire be taken captive to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5 WEB).

Father, we declare that this addiction *will not* have dominion over him. Your Word says, "Sin will not have dominion over you, for you are not under law, but under grace" (Romans 6:14 WEB). We stand on that promise. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, that he may walk in purity and self-control. Renew his mind with Your truth, that he may no longer conform to the patterns of this world but be transformed by the renewing of his mind (Romans 12:2 WEB).

Lord, we ask that You would bring accountability into his life. Surround him with godly men who will pray for him, encourage him, and hold him accountable. Your Word says, "Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens his friend’s countenance" (Proverbs 27:17 WEB). Let him not isolate himself but walk in fellowship with other believers who will spur him on toward love and good deeds (Hebrews 10:24 WEB).

Father, we also pray for healing—healing of his mind, his emotions, and any wounds that may have contributed to this struggle. You are the God who heals, and we ask that You would restore him fully. Let him know Your love in a deep and personal way, that he may find his identity and worth in You alone.

We thank You, Lord, that You are faithful and just to forgive and cleanse him from all unrighteousness. We declare that he is more than a conqueror through Christ who loves him (Romans 8:37 WEB). May he walk in the freedom that Christ died to give him, and may his life bring glory to Your name.

In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

To this brother, we say: You are not alone in this fight. The Lord sees your struggle, and He is fighting for you. Do not lose heart. Confess your sin, turn away from it, and run to Jesus. Seek out a trusted pastor, counselor, or accountability partner who can walk with you. Fill your mind with scripture, for the Word of God is a sword against the enemy’s lies. Memorize verses like Psalm 51:10, "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me," and meditate on them daily.

Remember, "The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it" (1 Thessalonians 5:24 WEB). God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that you ask or think (Ephesians 3:20 WEB). Keep pressing into Him, and do not give up. The battle is already won in Christ. Walk in that victory today.
