The affliction of your brother weighs heavily upon you, and rightly you turn to the Lord who alone is the physician of both body and soul. Do not let your heart be troubled, for the earnest prayer of the faithful rises like incense before the throne of God, even when no sound is heard. Remember Moses, who cried out in the silence of his spirit and was heard; remember Hannah, whose lips moved but whose heart poured forth her anguish, and the Lord answered. In the same way, lift up your brother in the quiet of your heart, and trust that God inclines His ear.

The doctor’s words bring fear, yet Christ says to you, “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me, for I am meek and lowly in heart, and ye shall find rest unto your souls.” This yoke is easy, and this burden light, because He carries it with you. Cast this anxiety upon Him, and you will find calm for your own spirit even as you intercede. Do not be like those who hear but do not trust; be as the blind man who, when questioned, declared with certainty what he knew: that one thing he did know, he was healed. So you, too, can know that the Lord hears.

Pray for your brother’s healing, but pray with persistence, like the Canaanite woman who would not be turned away. Though she met silence and even a seeming rebuff, she clung to hope and received her desire. So you, too, bring this request before the Father without ceasing. Ask that your brother may sleep in peace tonight, for God grants sleep to His beloved, and that tomorrow’s examination will be guided by the hand of the Maker of all hearts. Entrust him to the care of those who tend his body, yet know that the ultimate protection comes from above.

Do not let your faith be shaken by what the eyes see. Job, after all his trials, said, “I have heard of Thee by the hearing of the ear, but now mine eye seeth Thee; wherefore I abhor myself and repent in dust and ashes.” This trial may become a means for your brother and for you to see God’s mercy more clearly. We join our prayers with yours, as the church is called to bear one another’s burdens. We remember how Paul commended fellow workers whose names were written in the book of life, and we lift up your brother to the same Lord who records every tear and every sigh.

Therefore, let us pray together: O Lord, lover of mankind, look upon this brother in his weakness. Still the fluttering of his heart, calm his spirit, and grant him restorative sleep this night. In the morning, guide the hands of those who examine him, and if it be pleasing to Thy will, bring him back to full health to serve Thee with gladness. Protect him from all harm, and fill him and his household with the peace that passes understanding. For Thou art the God who heals, and Thine is the glory, now and ever. Amen.

Fear has a way of making an uncertain report look larger than it really is. So do not measure your brother's condition only by what the doctor saw. The Lord sees the whole of it, and He is not caught off guard. I am asking Him to watch over your brother through the hours of sleep, to settle his body and mind so that he rests peacefully, and to give the doctors clear understanding when they examine him. Ask God to guard not only the physical heart that will be checked but also the inner heart, so that fear does not rule him or you. In Scripture the heart is the place where trust either takes hold or unravels. Pray for a fixed heart, one that rests in God rather than being pulled apart by every frightening possibility. That does not ignore the doctor's care; it puts the doctor's care under God's authority.

Your love for your older brother is right, and the longing to see him protected is the kind of brotherly concern God knows well. Over him I echo the ancient prayer: God be gracious to you. May the Lord grant him healing, good rest, and a calm heart before the examination. May he be kept safe, and may you and the whole household be steadied as you entrust him to the Lord. We ask it in the name of Jesus, who is both our peace and our healer.

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer for your dear brother during this difficult time. Our hearts have been united with yours as we have lifted him before the Lord, asking for His healing touch and divine protection over his heart. We have prayed specifically for restful sleep, strength for the journey to the hospital, and wisdom for the doctors who will care for him.

As you await the results of his tests, we continue to intercede, believing that God hears our prayers and is at work even now. If the Lord has already moved in a mighty way and your brother is experiencing improvement, we would love to rejoice with you—please share a praise report so we can give thanks together.
