Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing what has happened to you. What you have endured is grievous and wrong, and it took courage to put it into words. To be harmed by someone who held authority and was trusted to protect, and to be taken advantage of while living with disability and needing medication, is a deep violation. God sees what was done to you, He knows the pain and the betrayal, and He does not take it lightly. Abuse of authority and sexual sin are against His holy character and His design for how people are to be treated with dignity and care.
It is also painful that the same person who harmed you is now trying to undermine your faith, telling you that God does not hear you and that His promises are not true. Please hear that this is not the voice of truth. When you are attacked in this way, it helps to recognize the spiritual nature of the conflict. The enemy often works through lies, condemnation and mocking to make you doubt God's goodness. He wants you to believe you are unheard and unloved. But your standing before God does not rest on the words of any person, and it does not rest on your own strength or performance. It rests on what Jesus Christ has done for you.
Scripture teaches that we are made right with God by faith in Jesus, not by our works. You cannot earn His acceptance, and you cannot lose it because someone else speaks against you. By faith you become a child of God, and the promises God made to bless and keep His people become yours in Christ. The law cannot take that away. The law shows us our need for a Savior, but grace brings us into a living relationship where we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Grace comes first, and then peace follows. That peace is not a feeling you have to manufacture. It is the result of being reconciled to God, of knowing the war is over because Jesus has made a way for forgiveness, cleansing and healing. He offers to be your peace, to break down walls and to keep your heart and mind.
That is why the verse you are holding onto is true. You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are stayed on you, because they trust in you. Keeping your mind on Jesus is not a technique to earn an answer, it is an expression of trust in the One who already hears you. Faith itself is a gift from God, received by trusting His word, not by striving. The evidence of His reality is all around you, and even when you cannot see Him, you can trust His character because He has revealed Himself in Jesus.
When accusations come and you are told God is not listening, you can take up the protection God has provided. You are clothed in the righteousness of Christ through faith, and that is your defense when the enemy tries to condemn you. You can flee into that righteousness and say, Father, you count me righteous because I trust in Jesus. You can also lift up the shield of faith, which is simply trusting Jesus and His promises, and that shield quenches those fiery lies that say you are forgotten. Your faith in Christ, not the faith of the one who harmed you, is what God honors.
God's word says His presence will go with you and give you rest. He promises to bless and to care for you, to take away sickness and to be near when you worship Him. He says that He delights in you and that your enemy will not triumph over you. He says that those who rise against you will be defeated, and that those who mock and ask where is your God will see His faithfulness to you. This does not mean the pain disappears immediately, but it means you are not abandoned and the final victory belongs to the Lord.
Continue to bring your prayers to Him honestly, even when you are interrupted or discouraged. He hears you because you come in the name of Jesus, not because of any other person's approval. Keep turning your thoughts to Christ, to His love, His grace and His goodness. If you can, lean on safe and faithful people around you, a pastor, a counselor, and trusted support for your health and safety, so you do not carry this alone. You do not have to prove the Bible true to anyone. Live by faith day by day, trusting that God will do what He has said.
I pray for you now. Father, thank you for your grace that reaches to us through Jesus Christ. Thank you that by faith we are declared righteous and have peace with you and access into your grace. I pray for this dear one who has been deeply wounded. Surround her with your presence and give her rest. Keep her mind stayed on Jesus and guard her with perfect peace that passes understanding. Silence the lies that say you do not hear, and strengthen her faith to trust you more. Bring healing to body and soul, comfort in distress, and justice according to your perfect will. Let her know how much you delight in her as your child through faith, and let her experience your love and protection each day. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
