happiness elsewhere

We hear your heart in this request and we join with you in seeking God's will together. We understand that you have felt discomfort regarding this man and your desire is that he would find happiness elsewhere, and that you would have peace about this decision. There is wisdom in listening to that discomfort and not moving forward simply out of obligation or pressure, for God calls us to guard our hearts and to walk in peace and discernment.

We want to encourage you that God cares deeply about our relationships and our future marriage. If this was a courtship, we believe that dating should be courtship with the purpose of discerning marriage to a fellow believer in Christ, not simply companionship or a casual partnership. We are taught not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers in 2 Corinthians 6:14 and to trust in the Lord with all our heart and not lean on our own understanding in Proverbs 3:5-6. When we feel unease or a lack of peace, it is often the Lord prompting us to step back and seek His direction. True happiness is not found simply elsewhere or in another person, but in Christ Himself, and we pray that both you and this man would find your joy and contentment first in the Lord. We are reminded in Psalm 37:4 to delight ourselves in the Lord and He will give us the desires of our heart, and in Jeremiah 29:11 that God knows the plans He has for us, plans for peace and not for evil to give us hope and a future. If there was any pressure toward physical intimacy or any temptation toward fornication, which is sex before or outside of marriage, we encourage you to flee from it as we are instructed in 1 Corinthians 6:18, for our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit and intimacy is reserved for the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman.

We also gently want to address that your request ended with Amen but did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want to remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. Jesus said in John 14:6 that He is the way, the truth, and the life and no one comes to the Father except through Him, and in Acts 4:12 we are told there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. To pray in Jesus' name is not just a phrase but a confession of faith that we believe He died for our sins and rose again and that we trust Him as our Lord and Savior. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your full trust in Him.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one to You. Lord, You see the discomfort and the burden that has been felt and we ask that You would bring perfect peace that surpasses all understanding as promised in Philippians 4:7. We ask that You would heal any hurt, confusion, or guilt and that You would guard this heart and mind in Christ Jesus. We pray for the man mentioned, that You would also draw him close to Yourself, that he would find true happiness and purpose not just elsewhere but in You, and that You would lead him to the godly wife You have for him if it is Your will, and lead our dear one to the godly husband You have for her if marriage is Your plan. We pray that You would make Your will clear for both lives and that neither would settle outside of Your perfect design for marriage. Help us all to trust You and to cast all our anxiety on You because You care for us as taught in 1 Peter 5:7. We ask that You would restore joy and give wisdom for the days ahead, and that You would be glorified in this situation. We ask all these things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, Amen.

We encourage you to continue to seek the Lord in prayer and in His Word, to pursue purity and holiness, and to trust that Romans 8:28 is true, that God works all things together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.

We hear how uncomfortable this has been for you, and we appreciate the honesty in asking that he find happiness elsewhere. That sense of discomfort matters, and it is wise to listen to it.

We think of healthy boundaries as a kind of property line. They help us know what is ours to carry, our values, emotions, choices, time and energy, and what is not. When we can be connected to someone and still be free to say yes when we mean yes and no when we mean no, relationships stay more honest and free. Saying no when you mean no is not unkind, it protects peace for both people.

If this is weighing on you, one steady next step could be to put your boundary into a simple, kind sentence you can hold to, and let one trusted person in your life know about it, a pastor, counselor or mature friend who can help you stay consistent and speak truth in love if further contact comes. Having someone alongside you makes it easier to hold that line without guilt or second guessing.

We are praying for you and we bring you before the Lord now. Father, we lift our friend to You and ask for clarity, peace and protection over heart and mind. Give wisdom for each conversation and courage to hold what is right, and lead both lives toward Your good and healing path. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Your prayer has been brought before the Lord and heard with care. There are times when the heart is uneasy and seeks quietness, and you have done well to bring this discomfort to Him who alone can give true rest.

The peace which the world calls happiness is often fleeting, but the peace which Christ gives is perfect peace, kept for him whose mind is stayed upon the Lord because he trusts in Him. Scripture tells us, Your faith has saved you, go in peace, and again, being justified by faith we have peace with God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Without that justification there can be no settled peace and no true enjoyment of life. It is that personal trust in His blood and righteousness which whispers peace within, even when duties press and sorrows surge around.

We will pray that the Lord grants you wisdom and calm, and that He will keep both you and this other person in His gracious keeping. We ask not for a happiness that is apart from holiness, for there is no true happiness apart from Christ, but that each of you may know the healing that comes from Him. The leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations, and even the least thing about Christ has healing virtue to change the heart and make the nature new. When He pardons, He heals, and with His stripes we are healed.

May the Lord teach you to go in peace wherever He leads you, to rest your heart upon Him, and to find that to do the will of Jesus is rest. May He guard your steps, give you clear boundaries, and draw both hearts to seek first His righteousness and His salvation through Christ alone, for there is no other name by which we are saved. And may the peace of God which passes all understanding keep your heart and mind through Christ Jesus until earthly struggles cease and He calls us to Heaven's perfect peace.

We join you in praying that the Lord will work all things according to His good and holy will, that He will grant repentance where it is needed, forgiveness where it is sought, and that you may walk before Him in quiet trust and holiness.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We have heard your prayer and we join you in bringing this burden before the Lord.

It is right to seek peace when you feel discomfort in a relationship, and to desire what is good and holy for the other person as well as for yourself. We pray that God will give you wisdom and clarity, and that He will guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus.

We ask the Lord to lead you both into His perfect will. True happiness and true peace are not found simply in changing circumstances or in finding another person, but in knowing Jesus Christ and walking in His ways. We pray that He would be the source of joy and contentment for you, and for him also, and that both of you would seek first His kingdom and His righteousness.

We pray that God would grant you peace, which is the mother of all good things and the foundation of love, and that He would establish your steps according to His word. May He guide you toward what is pure and holy, according to His design for life and for marriage as a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, with all intimacy kept within that covenant, and may He help you to set healthy and godly boundaries where you are uncomfortable.

We also pray that if there is any confusion or pressure in this situation, the Lord would bring good and holy separation where it is needed, as the physician removes what harms the body so that the whole may be well. May He heal what is diseased and bring unity with Himself above all.

We encourage you to continue in prayer, in the Scriptures, and in counsel with faithful believers who can walk with you and help you discern the Lord's leading.

Father, we lift this dear one to You and the man she has mentioned. Grant them repentance where it is needed, faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation, and a desire for holiness. Lead them each to the happiness that is found in You, and guide their paths in peace and in truth. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
