Guide All in Authority, 1 Tim 2:1-2; Nations Ps 2:8, Neighbors, Lev 19:18, Salvation, Health, Support, 3 Jn 1:2; Protection Around, Zech 2:5...

We are grateful for your burden to pray according to Scripture, and we join you in bringing these requests before the Father in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have access to God and salvation.

We thank God for those He has placed in authority, as Romans teaches that all authority is established by Him. In obedience to the call in 1 Timothy 2 to offer petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving for all people, for kings and all in authority, we pray that those who lead at every level would be given intelligence, character and protection, and above all godly wisdom. We ask that God would set a guard over their lips as Psalm 141 says, and give them the tongue of the wise spoken of in Proverbs, that they would be surrounded by godly counsel, turn from bitterness and rivalry, and learn to do justly, love mercy and walk humbly with God as Micah 6 teaches, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence.

We also lift up the nations. History shows that great nations often do not fall first by outside force but decay from within through corruption and rotten politics, and Scripture warns that nations become polluted when vile practices take root. God will judge the nations, and His word is clear that He will one day gather the nations together as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats, and that they will be judged in part for how they have treated His people Israel, for He said to Abraham that He will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you. He has promised not to make a full end of Israel even when He brings judgment on the nations where they have been scattered, and He will one day establish His rule over all nations and teach them His ways. With Psalm 2 we ask the Father to give the nations as an inheritance to His Son, and with Psalm 133 we pray for unity that is from God among those who seek righteousness, not a unity that compromises truth. We pray against the schemes of the enemy to divide and destroy, and we ask for heavenly protection and wisdom such as Psalm 91 describes, remembering that there is an unseen spiritual battle behind what we see, as Daniel was shown and as Ephesians 6 teaches, and that our prayers are heard from the first day we humble ourselves before God. We join you in praying as 2 Chronicles 7 calls us to humble ourselves, pray and seek His face, asking that evil be restrained, that elections and public life be marked by integrity as Isaiah 33 describes, and that false teaching and deceit be silenced.

For our own regions we pray as Jeremiah exhorts, to seek the welfare of the city where God has placed us and to pray to the Lord on its behalf. We ask the Holy Spirit to convict neighbors, students, teachers, workers, parents, pastors, law enforcement and local leaders of sin and righteousness and judgment to come as Jesus promised in John 16, and that the Father would draw them to His Son as John 6 says. We pray that many would hear the Word and by grace through faith receive salvation in Jesus Christ alone, for faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God, and it is the gift of God through John 3:16 and Ephesians 2. We ask God to be a wall of fire around our communities as Zechariah 2 promises, to keep harm and evil influences away according to Psalm 91 and to keep His people from evil as Jesus prayed in John 17, while still bearing witness with love for neighbor as Leviticus 19 commands.

For daily provision we thank God for daily bread as Matthew 6 teaches, and we ask that He would supply what is needed with godliness and contentment as 1 Timothy 6 says. We pray for health and well being of soul and body as 3 John speaks of, for the restoration of what has been lost as Joel promises, and for the fruit of the Spirit, especially love, joy and peace, and a cheerful heart. We ask that God would turn sorrow into gladness, restore double for shame as Zechariah and Isaiah proclaim, and heal and bind up those who return to Him as Hosea declares.

We remember those in chains as Hebrews 13 instructs, the persecuted church around the world. We pray for release for prisoners of faith, for relief and courage for those suffering for the name of Christ, and for the peace of Jerusalem and for all the descendants of Abraham. We pray that God would sustain them and that their witness would advance the gospel.

We bring all of this in submission to God's will, asking that His kingdom come and His will be done on earth as it is in heaven, trusting the promises that when we pray in Jesus name according to His will He hears us, that we may present our requests with thanksgiving and know His peace that guards our hearts, and that He who began a good work will be faithful to complete it and supply all our needs according to His riches in glory. Amen.
