Your prayer for understanding and clarity is one that God delights to answer, because His heart is to make truth known, not to hide it.
The word that is often translated revelation simply means an unveiling, an uncovering so that what was hidden can be seen. Many people think of God's plan as a sealed book that cannot be understood, but the opposite is true. God gave the revelation of Jesus Christ to show His servants what He is doing, and He sent His messenger to make it known to John. In the same way today, the Lord wants to unveil Jesus Himself to you. The central focus of all that God reveals is Jesus, how He watches over His people, how He loves the church, and how He will come as King. When you seek clarity about God's will, the clearest place to begin is to seek to see Jesus more clearly in Scripture, and to ask the Holy Spirit to open your eyes to Him.
That is also how guidance comes for your daily life. God's intent and purpose for you is to shape you more and more into the likeness of Christ. The work of the Holy Spirit is to conform you to His image, so that you begin to respond as He responds, to love as He loves, and to forgive as He forgave. As that work goes forward, you become His representative in this world, a true and faithful witness of who He is, just as Jesus was the faithful witness of the Father. Much of God's will is not only a road map for decisions, but a transforming work in your heart that makes you able to discern and walk in His ways.
You asked for the Holy Spirit to touch your heart with truth and for the Father's will to be done. That is exactly the prayer Jesus taught us to pray, and it is a prayer God answers. As you continue to bring your heart before Him, ask Him to show you Jesus through His Word, to soften and teach your heart by the Spirit, and to make you more like His Son in your thoughts, your loves, and your responses. He is faithful to lead those who seek Him with an open heart.
Praying for you now, that the Lord would give you a true understanding of His plan, that the Holy Spirit would fill your heart with the truth of Jesus, that He would grant you clear guidance for the steps before you, and that you would know the peace of resting in the Father's will.
