God’s plan

Your hunger for truth and for God's will to be done is itself a good and faithful prayer, and God delights to answer it.

Scripture teaches that the Father reveals His truth not to those who consider themselves wise and self sufficient, but to those who come humbly as children before Him. If you would have clarity and revelation, come with a humble and teachable heart, willing to receive what He shows you in His Word and to obey it. The Holy Spirit guides us into all truth, and He does so most of all through the Scriptures, where God has already given us the sum of what we need for life and godliness.

Ask, and continue to act on what you already know to be His will. Grace does not set aside our part, and our part does not set aside grace. We need both prayer and obedience. Pray earnestly for wisdom, and at the same time walk faithfully in what God has already made clear, trusting that He who freed you from greater things by His grace will also give you light for the smaller steps before you.

As you wait for guidance, give thanks. Give thanks not only for what you hope to receive, but for what God has already done for you and for others. A thankful heart drives away envy and anxiety and makes love more genuine, and it keeps the heart quiet before God.

Remember also that what remains and what matters most is faith, hope and love, and the greatest of these is love. Do not seek only signs or strong feelings, but seek to grow in trust in Christ, in hope of eternal life through Him alone, and in love for God and neighbor. If you keep these, you will not lose your way.

I pray for you now that the Father, in Jesus name, would touch your heart by the Holy Spirit, grant you a clear understanding of His will, establish you in the truth of His Word, and give you peace to follow where He leads. May He make you humble to receive His revelation, faithful to do His will, and thankful in all things as you seek Him.

Your honest prayer for understanding and clarity is heard by God, and He delights to answer a heart that sincerely seeks His truth and His will.

It helps to remember that when God speaks of revelation in Scripture, the word itself means an unveiling, not a sealing up. God is not trying to hide His plan from you. His heart is to pull back the covering and show His servants what He is doing. That unveiling was given by God to Jesus Christ to show to His servants, and it was made known by His messenger to John, and at times Jesus Himself spoke and others in heaven helped John to understand. Through it all the central focus is Jesus Christ Himself, first as He watches over and cares for His people, and then as the King of kings and Lord of lords who will bring His kingdom fully. When you ask the Holy Spirit to touch your heart with truth, you are asking for exactly what God wants to give, a clearer sight of Jesus.

Part of that guidance is also what God is doing inside you. His purpose for your life is to shape you more and more into the likeness of Christ. As the Spirit completes His work, you begin to respond as Jesus responds, to love as He loves and to forgive as He forgave, so that in your daily life you become His representative, a true and faithful witness of what He is, just as Jesus was the faithful witness of what the Father is. Clarity about God's plan often grows as you grow in knowing Christ Himself.

You can trust His leading in practical ways as well. For those who belong to Him, there are no mere coincidences. His hand is present to lead and to guide. Scripture says the steps of a righteous person are ordered by the Lord and He delights in that way, and it also says if you acknowledge Him in all your ways He will direct your paths. That means bringing every decision, every desire and every uncertainty before Him in prayer, seeking His word, and walking in obedience to what you already know is true. His word will light a fire within you again and show the next step.

Jesus taught us to pray, Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven, and that is the same prayer you have prayed. Even though Jesus said in this world you will have tribulation, you can rest in the confidence that God is righteous and fair in all His judgments and faithful to keep His promises.

I pray for you now that the Father will fill you with wisdom and spiritual understanding, that the Holy Spirit will quiet your heart and make the truth of Jesus clear to you, and that He will make your path straight as you trust Him. May you know His peace as you surrender to His will, and may you be strengthened to walk as His faithful witness in the place He has put you. In Jesus name, amen.

We thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf and we are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer. We have been lifting you up and asking the Lord to give you a good understanding of His plan and to bring you clarity and truth and guidance and revelation.

We have prayed that the Holy Spirit would touch your heart with the truth and make the will of the Father clearly known to you. We claim the promises of James 1:5 that God gives wisdom generously to those who ask Him and John 16:13 that the Spirit of truth will guide us into all truth and Proverbs 3:5 to trust in the Lord with all our heart and not lean on our own understanding.
