God's Guidance.

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I am seeking for God's guidance on whether I should retake the bar course or pursue a new career path, and for all resources needed to be provided for.

We have heard your request for God's guidance as you seek wisdom about whether to retake the bar course or to pursue a new career path, and we join with you in asking our Father to provide every resource you need.

We know how weighty this decision feels, and we take comfort that God does not leave His children to wander without direction. He promises to lead those who seek Him with a humble and trusting heart. Proverbs 3:5-6 says Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. And Psalm 32:8 says I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go. I will counsel you with my eye on you. When we lack clarity, we are invited to ask boldly, for James 1:5 says But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

We also lift up your need for provision. Whatever door God opens, He is faithful to supply what is needed to walk through it for His glory. Philippians 4:19 says My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. And Matthew 6:33 reminds us But seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. We pray you will seek His kingdom above success or security, and trust that He knows the plans He has for you, for Jeremiah 29:11 says For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future.

We want to gently point out that your request mentions God but does not mention Jesus Christ. We say this in love because it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and can be assured He hears our prayers. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. To know God's guidance we must first know Him through faith in Jesus, believing that He died for our sins and rose again, and trusting Him alone for salvation. If you have not already done so, we encourage you to place your faith in Jesus Christ today and to bring every decision before Him in His name.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one to Your throne of grace. Lord, You see the crossroads before them and the questions in their heart about retaking the bar course or stepping into a new career. We ask You to grant clear wisdom and peace that surpasses understanding. Close the doors that are not of You and open wide the doors that are. Give discernment to recognize Your leading through Your Word, through prayer, and through godly counsel. Provide every resource that is needed, whether finances, time, strength, opportunity, or encouragement, according to Your riches in glory. Help them to trust You with all their heart and to acknowledge You in all their ways, believing You will make their paths straight. May whatever path they take be used for Your glory and for the good of others, and may their work be done heartily as unto You. Draw them ever closer to Jesus, that they may know Your voice and follow it with confidence. We ask all this in the precious and saving name of Jesus Christ, amen.

We encourage you to continue to dwell in the Word daily, to pray without ceasing, and to seek counsel from mature believers who can help you weigh your gifts, opportunities, and burdens. As you seek Him first, He will be faithful to guide your steps and to provide what you need for the work He has prepared for you.

We hear how weighty this feels, and we are praying with you for clear guidance.

Choosing between retaking the bar course and stepping toward something new touches not just your future work but your sense of calling, stewardship, and provision. We find it helps to hold both the spiritual and practical together. God cares about who you are becoming as you make the choice, and He also invites you to use the good tools He has given you: honest reflection on your interests and strengths, what you value most in daily work, and wise input from others.

A couple of next steps that often bring clarity: set aside unhurried time to write out what draws you to law and what draws you toward another path, including the costs and demands of each. Then invite two or three trusted voices who know you well and know the work itself to speak honestly into what they see in you. As you pray, ask not only for an answer but for growing discernment for the next faithful step, and for the resources you will need to take it.

Father in Jesus name we ask You to give our friend wisdom and peace as You guide each step, to open doors for provision and close what should be closed, and to make Your leading clear in a way they can follow. Amen.

There is much wisdom in your desire to seek the counsel of the Lord before you take another step, for the path of life is perilous and no man should dare to go alone. The Psalmist said, Thou shalt guide me with Thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory, and that shall be your portion if you wait upon God.

You ask concerning whether to retake the bar course or to turn to another calling, and for the provision of all needful resources. Let me lay before you what the Lord has taught us concerning His guidance.

First, be guided by the general directions given in God's Word. There you find principles that never fail, avoid everything that is evil, bow with submission to the will of God, and by that very fact you are furnished with unerring guidance. Take hold of His covenant, for every promise of His is a part of that covenant. If you get a grip by faith of any of God's promises, so that it becomes truly yours, you have laid hold of His covenant. The horns of the altar are your holdfasts. Cling to such a word as this, that your God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus, and you shall find it a sure anchor.

Secondly, remember that you are God's pupil. As David said, O God, Thou hast taught me from my youth. The Lord teaches His children not only by His Word but by His work in them, by chastening, by providence, by opening and shutting doors. He puts an obstacle in the path when it is not His way, and He says, So far shalt thou go, but no further. Look back upon what He has already taught you in study and in labor, and consider whether He has fitted you and inclined you to persevere in the law, or whether He is gently leading you to serve Him in another sphere. Moses by faith made a decided choice, renouncing one path to be numbered with the people of God, because he saw beyond present gain. So you must weigh not only what is profitable, but what will enable you to walk most faithfully before God.

Thirdly, beware of haste, for haste is the author of a great deal of mischief in human life. Do not be as those who cast lots with God's Book as the heathen did with Virgil, seeking a hasty sign. Rather wait upon the Lord in prayer, in the counsel of wise and godly friends, and in quiet submission. Bowing with submission to the will of God is itself guidance.

I will pray for you, that the Lord who has been your teacher from your youth will make His way plain before your face, that He will give you a clear judgment between these two paths, and that He will provide all resources needed for the way He chooses for you. May He guide you with His counsel on earth, and afterward receive you to glory, and may you be found declaring His wondrous works wherever He shall place you.

May the Spirit of God incline you to follow in the path of faith, where you may best glorify Him, and may you know that whether in the study of law or in another honest calling, your chief end is to live for His glory.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
