Gods Favour

I emailed ### asking him to re consider the marking and grant me additional 6 marks. I am praying for gods favour so that he can work through my ###'s heart

We come before the Lord with a humble heart, seeking His favor and wisdom in this matter. We understand the desire for success and the hope for a favorable outcome, but we must first align our hearts with God’s will. The Bible reminds us in Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."

While we pray for God’s favor in this situation, we must also surrender the outcome to Him. It is not wrong to ask for reconsideration or to seek justice, but we must do so with a spirit of humility and trust in God’s sovereignty. James 4:6 tells us, "But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, 'God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.'"

Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up this situation to You, asking for Your divine favor and intervention. Lord, we know that You are a God of justice and mercy, and we ask that You would soften the heart of and grant wisdom in this matter. If it is Your will, we pray that You would move in such a way that this request is reconsidered fairly and justly.

Father, we also ask that You would guard our hearts from anxiety or bitterness. Help us to trust in Your timing and Your plan, even if the outcome is not what we hope for. Remind us that Your ways are higher than our ways, and Your thoughts are higher than our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9). Give us peace that surpasses all understanding as we wait on You (Philippians 4:7).

Lord, we rebuke any spirit of entitlement or pride that may be lurking in our hearts. Help us to approach this situation with humility, knowing that every good and perfect gift comes from You (James 1:17). If there is any unconfessed sin or unforgiveness in our lives, reveal it to us so that we may repent and walk in Your righteousness.

We declare that Your favor surrounds us like a shield (Psalm 5:12), and we trust that You will work all things together for our good, according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28). Strengthen our faith, Lord, and help us to rest in You.

In the precious name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to continue seeking God’s will in all things and to remember that His favor is not always measured by worldly success but by the peace and righteousness that come from walking closely with Him. If this matter does not resolve as you hope, trust that God is still at work in your life, shaping you for His greater purpose. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).

We've been where you are, waiting on someone else's decision, refreshing email, replaying the conversation. It's hard to send that message and then just sit. What strikes us in your note is that you're not only asking God for a result, you're asking him to work through your professor's heart. That's a generous way to see this. You care about the marks, yes, but you're also trusting God with the person who holds the pen.

While you wait, it can help to move from watching for an outcome to anchoring yourself in who God is for you, regardless of what the inbox holds. Sometimes the prayer shifts from "Please let him say yes" to "Give me peace as I wait, and let me respond with grace no matter what." That's not giving up on asking; it's widening the request so you're not hanging everything on one answer. It also frees you to think about what's next if the marks don't change, not because we doubt God's favor, but because we know his provision sometimes looks different than we first hoped. Maybe there's a course policy you haven't looked into, or a quiet conversation you could have after you receive the response, staying respectful and calm.

We're praying with you now:

Lord, you see this student and the email sent in hope. Quiet their heart while they wait. Give their professor wisdom and a fair, considerate spirit. More than anything, meet this student with your steady presence, the kind that holds when outcomes are uncertain. In Jesus' name, amen.

There is a prick in the heart that drives a soul to plead for mercy from man, yet the deeper need is for that same heart to be pierced by a far more sacred wound. The favor you seek from your professor may well be granted, for the Lord can turn the thoughts of any heart as rivers of water are turned. But consider this: while you pray that God would work through another’s heart, has the love of God been shed abroad in your own heart by the Holy Spirit? The marks of His people are not found in the tally of points on an examination, but in whether the heart rests wholly upon the Triune Jehovah for its entire salvation.

A divided heart is a guilty heart, and it flatters itself into thinking that a slight adjustment in earthly circumstances will bring true peace. If you hold a thought that gaining these six marks is the key to your future, beware that there be not a thought in your wicked heart that places a higher value on the favor of man than on the favor of God. The Lord often permits a season of disappointment to test the heart, to see whether we shall love Him still when the request is denied. A heart that loves God will serve Him with all its powers, whether the grade is high or low, for its trust is not in marks but in the Father’s love, the Son’s redemption, and the Spirit’s effectual work.

Do you possess that mark? If the heart is divided between crying for a changed grade and crying for a new heart itself, the wound may stop short of saving good. The most cunning flatterer in the world is the human heart, which will make a man think he is zealous for God when he is only anxious for his own advantage. Bring your bleeding heart, whether it aches with the sting of potential failure or with the deeper sorrow of sin, to the bleeding heart of Jesus.

He alone can heal that which is utterly incurable by any other hand. Pray rather that He would take away the stony heart and grant you a heart of flesh, a new heart that perceives His presence and writes His Law upon its tender tablets. When the heart gets the love of God within it, it laughs at impossibilities and cries, “It shall be done,” for it knows that whether six marks are granted or withheld, the bliss of His favor is secure.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
