We hear the depth of your pain and despair, and our hearts ache with you. You are not alone in this struggle, though it may feel that way. The weight you carry is heavy, and the enemy would love nothing more than to convince you that God has abandoned you or that your life has no purpose. But Scripture tells us, "The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:18). Even in your darkest moment, He is near, even when you cannot feel Him.
Your words reveal a battle not just with suffering, but with doubt and anger toward God. It is okay to bring those raw emotions before Him. He can handle your honesty. In fact, the Psalms are filled with cries of anguish where people questioned God’s presence or timing, yet they still turned to Him. "Why are you in despair, my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God!" (Psalm 42:5). Hope may feel impossible right now, but hope is not a feeling, it is a Person, and His name is Jesus.
You mentioned ending your life, and we must speak truth in love: your life is precious to God. He knit you together in your mother’s womb (Psalm 139:13-16), and He has a purpose for you that the enemy wants to steal. Suicide is not the answer, it is a lie that pain is permanent and that God cannot redeem your suffering. "For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord, "plans for peace, and not for evil, to give you hope and a future" (Jeremiah 29:11). Even if you cannot see it now, God is working in ways you may not yet understand.
We also want to gently address your statement that God does not care or may not exist. The cross of Jesus Christ is the ultimate proof of His love for you. "But God commends his own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8). If God did not care, He would not have sent His Son to suffer and die in your place. If He did not exist, there would be no hope at all, but He is real, and His love is unshakable.
Please, reach out to someone you trust, a pastor, a Christian friend, or a counselor who can walk with you through this valley. Isolation feeds despair, but community brings light. "Two are better than one... for if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow" (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10). You do not have to carry this alone.
Let us pray for you:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts for our brother/sister who is in such deep pain. Lord, You see every tear, every thought, every moment of despair. We ask that You would break through the darkness with Your light. Remind them that You are near, that You hear their cries, and that You are working even now. Jesus, we plead the power of Your blood over their mind and heart, cast out the lies of the enemy that say their life has no value or that You have abandoned them. Fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Surround them with people who will love and support them, and give them the strength to reach out for help. Father, we trust You to restore their hope and lead them into a future where joy replaces sorrow. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
