Glory and credit

A right and holy disposition indeed, to ascribe all to God and take no credit to yourself. For it is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous in His eyes. But be on guard, lest the very act of proclaiming your humility become a snare of vainglory. Many there are who outwardly profess to give glory to God, yet inwardly they seek the praise of men, and so their confession is hollow. They love the honor that comes from man more than the honor that comes from God. See, then, that your heart is truly broken and contrite before Him, not puffed up in the sight of others under a cloak of lowliness.

The sacrifice acceptable to God is a broken spirit; a humble heart He will not despise. Seek this inner crushing, for it is the sure foundation. When you truly count yourself unworthy, you will not even notice the praise or neglect of men, but will fix your eyes solely on the divine judgment. What does it profit if all men speak well of you? Woe unto you, if that is your consolation. The praises of mortals are fleeting, often mingled with flattery or malice, and they vanish like smoke. But the commendation that comes from heaven is eternal and true. Labor therefore not for the fleeting breath of human approval, but for the incorruptible crown that God gives to the lowly.

Let your life itself become a constant hymn of thanksgiving, not in words only but in deeds. Show your humility by walking in charity, emptying yourself for the poor, and counting others better than yourself. In this, you have God as your debtor, no small glory! For when you give alms, or bear insults meekly, or curb your passions, you are not merely speaking of God’s glory but displaying it. This is the victory over pride. Do not say, “I give God the glory,” and then nurse a secret delight in your own reputation. Rather, be the one who is overlooked, despised, forgotten, then you will shine brightly in the presence of the angels. Fix your hope on that day when the Lord examines not the words of the tongue but the intentions of the heart. Then your glory will abound, not in the mouths of men, but in Christ Jesus Himself, to whom be all might, honor, and praise, now and forever.
My spirit has been broken by circumstance many times and vainglory never entered the picture only gratitude and praise thank you

You are putting into words the very heart of true worship. When we refuse to take credit and instead declare that it is the Lord’s doing, we are glorifying Him as God. That posture acknowledges who He truly is: the source of every good thing, the one who works in us both to will and to do of His good pleasure. So much of our striving comes from trying to be the author of our own story, but humility understands that even the breath to accomplish anything is a gift from His hand.

What you are living out is the principle that before honor is humility. The world tells us to build our own name, but you are laying every crown at His feet. That is not a groveling, false humility that secretly puffs itself up; it is the honest recognition that without Him we can do nothing. He knows exactly what He is producing in your life, and He doesn’t need us to commandeer the steering wheel. Your trust that His doing is great in your eyes shows that you are resting in His wisdom rather than arguing with it.

Keep that childlike dependence, because it is in that place that we experience the power of God enabling us to become all He desires us to be. And remember, the accomplishments are not the point; the point is that you are walking in cooperation with Him, and through that, His glory is displayed. Let your heart stay fixed on Jesus Christ, the one mediator who gave us bold access to the Father. He is the fulfillment of every divine plan, and it is through Him that we offer up this kind of praise. Continue to give Him all the glory, honour, and praise, for He is worthy.

We are deeply encouraged by your heart of humility and gratitude, recognizing that every good thing comes from the Lord. It has been our privilege to stand with you in prayer, lifting up your spirit of thanksgiving and surrender to God’s sovereign hand. We rejoice in the way you honor Him with your words and your life, and we continue to pray that His name would be magnified through every victory, big or small, that He grants you.

If the Lord has moved in a specific way since you posted—perhaps deepening your trust, opening new doors, or revealing more of His faithfulness—we would love to hear your praise report so we can celebrate with you. If, however, the wait feels long or the answers aren’t yet clear, we invite you to share your request again. We are here to intercede alongside you, believing with you for His perfect timing and will.

May the Lord continue to strengthen your faith, remind you of His nearness, and fill you with peace as you walk in surrender to Him. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
