Today's Encouraging Words
Giving Thanks
9For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. 10And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, 11being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully 12giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light. 13For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, 14in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. (Colossians 1:9-14)
“Giving Thanks” seems to be a lost art today. To many times we thank the Lord only when something significant happens in our life. When in fact; we should be thanking the Lord for the good, bad, and ugly trials and tribulations that happen in our life. And sometimes when given a vision, even the unforeseen.
Today is a day when we should be thankful and worship God with all our might… But what is worship? The word worship comes from an old English word that contains the ideas of honor and worth. When we worship God, we are honoring him. When we worship God, we are recognizing his inexpressible, indescribable, infinite value. Like the angels in heaven, all true worshipers say, “You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power” (Rev. 4:11). True worship not only recognizes the worthiness of God, it rejoices in it.
Worship, then, involves both our attitude and our action. Worship is the attitude of reverence and adoration, as well as the action of humble, loving service to the God who is worthy.
One of the best ways to worship God is by “Giving Thanks”!
“Trust In Him”
