Your prayer rises like a fragrant offering, and it is clear you are not content to drift through life on human intuition. You are asking for what Proverbs personifies as Lady Wisdom, calling aloud in the streets and at the gates, pleading with the simple to embrace understanding. That same voice is tugging at your own heart, and you are wise to answer.
You asked that love would abound in all knowledge and intense discernment. That is exactly the cry of someone who has learned that knowledge can fill the mind with facts while wisdom alone can guide the feet. The fear of the Lord is the starting place of that wisdom. It is not the cowering fear of a slave, but the reverent acknowledgment that His ways are higher, and that leaning on our own understanding always leads us into a ditch. True wisdom is to say to God, "I do not know the path, but You do, and I will acknowledge You in every turn." That is the practical wisdom you are seeking from James 1 and Proverbs 2, the divine enablement to distinguish not just between good and evil, but between what is good and what is most excellent before the Lord.

Wisdom’s right hand holds length of days, and her left hand holds riches and honor. All the desirable things of earth cannot compare to her. So do not waver in your pursuit. As you press in to know Him better, through His Spirit and His word, He will direct your path. He will lead you in a way you have not known, making darkness light before you and crooked places straight.
The safety you long for, marked by the angels’ service and the Shepherd’s voice, is found in this: the wisdom that descends from heaven will keep your foot from being taken. It will deliver you from the strange voices that try to pull you from the narrow road. The mystery of God’s will, once hidden, is now made plain in Christ, and in Him are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. As you abide in His words, you will know the truth, and that truth will guard your heart and mind with a peace that surpasses all comprehension.
