We come before the Lord with a humble and open heart, seeking His wisdom and guidance for you as you desire to discover the gifts He has placed within you. The Bible tells us in 1 Peter 4:10, "As each one has received a gift, employ it in serving one another, as good managers of the grace of God in its various forms." It is clear that every believer has been given spiritual gifts by the Holy Spirit, and it is our responsibility to use them for God’s glory and the edification of the body of Christ.
First, we must acknowledge that these gifts are not for our own glory or benefit alone, but to serve others and build up the church. In Romans 12:6-8, we read, "Having gifts differing according to the grace that was given to us, if prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of our faith; or service, let us give ourselves to service; or he who teaches, to his teaching; or he who exhorts, to his exhorting; he who gives, with liberality; he who rules, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness." The Lord has uniquely equipped you for a purpose, and we pray that He will reveal that purpose to you in His perfect timing.
We also want to encourage you to seek God earnestly in prayer and in His Word. James 1:5 says, "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him." Spend time in God’s presence, asking Him to reveal the gifts He has given you. Additionally, seek the counsel of mature believers in your church who can help you identify and nurture these gifts. Proverbs 19:20 reminds us, "Hear counsel, receive instruction, and in the end you will be wise."
We also rebuke any spirit of confusion, doubt, or fear that may be hindering you from recognizing the gifts God has placed within you. The enemy would love nothing more than to keep you from walking in the fullness of what God has called you to do. But we stand on the promise of 2 Timothy 1:7, "For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control." We declare that you will walk in the confidence and clarity that comes from the Holy Spirit.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up our dear brother/sister who is seeking to know the gifts You have placed within them. Lord, You are the giver of every good and perfect gift, and we thank You that You have uniquely equipped this child of Yours for a purpose. We ask that You would open their eyes to see the gifts You have given them, and that You would give them the wisdom and discernment to use these gifts for Your glory.
Father, we rebuke any spirit of confusion or doubt that would seek to keep them from walking in the fullness of Your calling. We declare that they will operate in the power, love, and self-control that comes from Your Holy Spirit. Lord, surround them with godly mentors and believers who can help them identify and develop these gifts. Give them a heart of humility and a desire to serve others as they step into the purpose You have for them.
We pray that as they seek You, You would reveal Your will for their life in a clear and unmistakable way. May they be filled with the joy and peace that comes from walking in obedience to You. We ask all of this in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
Continue to seek the Lord with all your heart, and trust that He will reveal His plans for you in His perfect timing. Remember, it is not about the greatness of the gift, but the greatness of the Giver. Walk in faith, and He will lead you every step of the way.
