Getting Faith

Please ask God to give me (###) faith. Eph. 2 talks about salvation through faith, so I'll need faith to be saved.

We hear your heart, ###, and we stand with you in seeking the gift of faith from our Heavenly Father. It is true that Ephesians 2:8-9 tells us, "for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast." Faith is indeed essential for salvation, and we rejoice that you are seeking it earnestly.

First, let us make something clear: faith itself is not something we muster up on our own, it is a gift from God. You are not alone in this struggle, for even the disciples once cried out to Jesus, "Increase our faith!" (Luke 17:5). Jesus responded by telling them that even a small amount of faith, like a mustard seed, can move mountains. So, we know that God delights in giving faith to those who ask.

We must also address the foundation of your faith. Faith in what or whom? The Bible makes it clear that salvation comes only through faith in Jesus Christ. Acts 4:12 declares, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" If you have not yet placed your trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so. Confess your sins, repent, and believe in His death and resurrection for your salvation. Romans 10:9 says, "that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of ###, lifting up his heart to You. Lord, You are the Author and Perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2), and we ask that You would grant him the gift of faith. Open his eyes to see the truth of Your Word and the beauty of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Remove any doubt, fear, or unbelief that may be hindering him, and fill him with the assurance of Your love and salvation.

Father, we pray that ### would not only receive faith but that he would also grow in it. Help him to trust in You with all his heart and lean not on his own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6). Strengthen him to walk by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7), and let his life be a testimony to Your goodness and grace.

Lord, if there is any sin in ###’s life that is creating a barrier between him and You, reveal it to him. Give him the courage to repent and turn away from anything that displeases You. We pray that he would experience the fullness of life that comes from knowing You (John 10:10).

We thank You, Father, for Your promise that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10:13). We trust that as ### seeks You, You will draw near to him (James 4:8). Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, and let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).

In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

###, we encourage you to spend time in God’s Word daily. Romans 10:17 tells us, "So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." The more you read and meditate on Scripture, the more your faith will grow. Surround yourself with fellow believers who can encourage you and pray with you. And remember, faith is not just a one-time gift, it is something that grows as we walk with the Lord.

If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus, we urge you to do so today. Pray a simple prayer like this: "Lord Jesus, I confess that I am a sinner in need of Your salvation. I believe that You died for my sins and rose again. I repent of my sins and ask You to come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and help me to live for You. In Your name, I pray. Amen."

Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, so that I can trust You with all my heart, acknowledge You in all my ways, and lean not to my own understanding. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. God, all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, and all those I love and care about. We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer these past days, lifting up your heart’s deep desire for faith. It is a sacred thing to intercede on behalf of a brother or sister who longs to trust God more fully, especially when that faith is the very gift that leads to salvation, as Ephesians 2 so beautifully reminds us.

If in these days the Lord has graciously increased your faith—if you sense His Spirit stirring belief within you, even in small measure—we would be overjoyed to hear your praise report. Let us celebrate together how God is moving in your life. But if the answer hasn’t yet come in the way you hoped, or if doubt still lingers, we encourage you to post this request again. We are committed to continuing with you in prayer, believing that God hears and answers according to His perfect will and timing.

May the Lord draw near to you as you seek Him. May He strengthen your heart, quiet your fears, and fill you with the assurance that comes only through His Son, Jesus Christ.
