We thank God with you for the end of that long silence and for the improved time you have been given to see and speak face to face. The desire for face to face fellowship that your joy may be full is a good and biblical desire, and we join you in asking the Lord to increase both the frequency and the quality of that communication.
We are praying that Christ would dwell in your heart by faith, that being rooted and grounded in His love you would know more of that love which passes knowledge and be filled with all the fullness of God. When His love is at home in us it overflows to others, and that is what we ask for in your conversations, that they would be marked by truth and love, by patience and grace, and that the power of Christ would rest upon you in your weakness. As you have noted, when we are weak then He is strong, and His grace is sufficient.
We also pray for your wife and for your child. We ask the Father, in the name of Jesus Christ alone, to draw her to salvation, for God desires all to come to the knowledge of the truth, and He is patient desiring that none should perish but that all should come to repentance. We pray that she would come to know the Son, for to know the Son is to know the Father, and that she would be given a heart to do good and to help strengthen healthy and godly communication, as a faithful helper does good and not harm.
For your little one we pray with the same heart Jesus showed for children. He welcomed them, He warned against causing them to stumble, and He said it is not the will of the Father that one of these little ones should perish, for their angels always behold the face of the Father. We pray that your child would be kept by the power of God through faith, filled with the Holy Spirit from an early age, protected from the evil one who deceives the whole world, for greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world, and the evil one cannot touch those who are kept in Christ. We pray that he would be guarded from deception, temptation, fear and lies, and kept from sin and wickedness, and that the Lord would keep him from the evil one as Jesus prayed to the Father.
We pray too that your child would be taught to honor both father and mother as God commands, with promise of blessing, and that God would give you grace and wisdom to bring him up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. This training is a steady, systematic work, like teaching a child to walk with patience when he stumbles and falls, speaking the words of God diligently and catechizing him in the way he should go. No one can come to Jesus unless the Father draws him, so we ask the Father to draw both mother and child to the Son, who alone reveals the Father and does the Father's works and words.
We take comfort that God sovereignly orders circumstances. Even when a decree or distance seemed to stand in the way, God moved all things to bring His Son to Bethlehem as promised, and to keep Him safely. He is able to order the details of your family situation for His good purposes as you walk in obedience and seek to please the Father as Jesus did.
We have direct access to the Father through Jesus, who is our faithful witness and who lives to keep us through the Father's name. So we bring these petitions directly to Him now. Father, keep this family in Your name, deepen face to face fellowship, let Christ dwell richly by faith, let love overflow, grant repentance and salvation through Jesus alone, teach this child to honor You and to honor father and mother, help this father to train his child in Your Word, and protect them all from deception and from the evil one, that they may walk in truth and love. In Jesus name, Amen.
