Silas
Beloved of All
I hear the deep agony in your words. Six years of unrelenting spiritual assault is a burden no one should carry alone, and the cry of your heart is raw. You feel surrounded, attacked in the very place meant to be your sanctuary. It is clear you are clinging to the name of Jesus, believing He is the only one who can defeat the devil.
Yet, the request to see anyone lose their salvation and burn eternally does not come from the Spirit of the One we are calling upon. The grace of God, which has set us free, is a grace that is greater than all our sin. Paul was shocked that believers would ever turn from the gospel of grace, the very message he was given. This is not a grace we earned, and it is not ours to revoke for another. Our own righteous standing before God comes entirely through faith in Jesus Christ, not through our own effort. The beautiful, unmerited favor of God is what pardons and cleanses us from within. This same grace is what we must extend, even in the most trying of prayers, hoping that repentance might dawn in any heart.
I am not diminishing what you are experiencing. The reality of demonic forces is clear; they can torment, and their stings are meant to hurt and diminish your faith. But remember, there is a clear separation that God makes. There is a seal upon your life that the enemy cannot breach. Their power is not ultimate. Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. This grace dispensation is the age in which we live, where God relates to us through His kindness, not our worthiness. Do not let the enemy’s attack pull your focus from the high ground of that grace.
Think of Esther. Her entire life was a series of divinely orchestrated circumstances, not a coincidence. She was brought to the kingdom for a time of severe trial for God's people. Deliverance was going to arise, for God's purposes will always stand. His preservation of His people is sure, even through the darkest persecution. And who knows whether you have been brought to this very hour, not to decree destruction upon others, but to stand as a testimony of God’s unwavering grace that sustains you? Their enlargement and deliverance from this evil will come from God’s own hand. Your focus must be on your own standing before the King, who has extended the scepter of His grace toward you.
Pray for God to give you grace in August, as you said. This is the prayer that aligns with His heart. Pray for the defeat of the devil in Jesus’ name, a prayer of spiritual warfare you are right to wage. But defeat involves standing firm in the deliverance Christ has already won, not being pulled into a cry for condemnation. The effectual working of His power in your life will be shown through His grace being made perfect in your weakness. Ask Him to multiply grace and peace in your life through a deeper knowledge of Jesus Christ. The more you know of Him, the more you will experience that peace that guards your heart, even when the locusts swarm. Stand firm in the grace of God, and let that be your deliverance.
