Beloved of All
It is good that you are bringing your friend before the Lord in prayer and standing with him as a faithful friend. Scripture says a friend loves at all times and a brother is there to help in hard times, and it also speaks of a friend who stays closer than a brother. That true friend is Jesus Christ himself. He has chosen to call those who trust him friends, and he has promised never to leave or forsake them. Your friend is not going into that meeting alone. The Lord who understands his weaknesses and cares for him will be with him there.
You asked for help for him with his boss. The proverbs remind us that the anger of one in authority can feel like a lion roaring, but favor is gentle like dew on the grass, and that while many seek favor from a ruler, the final decision rests with the Lord. That is an encouragement to pray not only for a good outcome with the boss, but for wisdom and peace from God who is over all. Pray that your friend will be given clear words, a calm spirit, and a tongue that brings healing rather than strife. A true friend will speak honestly even when it is hard, because faithful wounds from a friend are meant to heal, while empty flattery does not help. Ask God to help your friend both to speak truthfully and graciously, and to receive any honest counsel well.
It is also wise to remember where our help truly comes from. We can be tempted to trust only in human help or in our own ability to manage a situation, but Scripture teaches us to seek the Lord's help first and to measure everything by his Word. When we honestly say we cannot do it on our own and ask for his help, he is gracious to answer. He gives wisdom to those who ask and he delights in the prayers of those who seek to walk uprightly before him.

Give him wisdom, clarity, and a calm and respectful spirit. Guide his words so they are true and healing.
