Help Meeting for a Friend

Your prayer for your friend has been heard and we join you in lifting him up before the Lord with thanksgiving. It is good that you care for him and ask God to watch over him, and it is also good to hear that things have eased up somewhat, for that too is from the mercy of God.

We pray that the Lord will be present in that meeting, that what is just and right will be done, and that your friend will be treated with fairness. Scripture reminds us that the Lord loves righteousness and that we are to preserve justice without partiality, looking not to favor but to what is true and right. We ask God to give wisdom to those who make decisions there, to protect your friend from unjust hardship, and to provide for his needs according to His will, whether that means keeping this job for a time or opening another way to provide.

We also know from Scripture that in this world we will have tribulation and that each one who seeks to live a godly life will face afflictions and sorrows of various kinds. The narrow way is often hard, and people giving us a hard time can be part of that trial. These things are not meaningless. God uses them to strengthen us, to make us less soft and more steadfast, and to teach us to trust Him rather than the favor of others or the security of a position. Even when we are not led to prisons or great persecutions, the daily pressures and brandings of life test our faith, and God calls us to endure with patience and to repay good for evil.

So we pray not only for protection of his job for the next couple of years as you have asked, but for something greater, for excellence of soul, for a clear conscience, for peace in the midst of pressure, and for confidence in Christ. May your friend walk with integrity, do his work faithfully as unto the Lord, and find his security first in Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have salvation and access to the Father.

Let us pray together. Heavenly Father, we bring this friend before You. You see his meeting, You know the people around him and the difficulties he has faced. We ask that You would grant him favor where it is according to Your will, guard his work and his livelihood, and give him strength and wisdom to endure whatever comes. Let justice be done and let him know Your presence and protection. Keep him from discouragement, help him to love righteousness and to trust You in all things, and provide for him day by day. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Your concern for your friend and your prayer for him is precious to the Lord. It is good that you have brought his meeting and his job before Jesus, asking for favor and protection.

The story of Job reminds us of truths that speak directly to a situation like this. God knows those who love Him and seek to walk uprightly before Him. In Job's case, the Lord Himself spoke of Job's character, and He had placed a hedge around him. The enemy had been watching Job closely, looking for a way to accuse him and to bring hardship, suggesting that Job only served God because of blessing. That same pattern is still real today. When a person faces pressure at work and people who give him a hard time, it can feel like accusation and unfair scrutiny, much like Job experienced from those who came to comfort him but instead criticized him. Yet the Scriptures show us that God is fair and just, and He sees exactly what is happening even when we do not understand all the circumstances.

Job did not understand why his hardships came, and he cried out with deep grief. His words in his pain were not always a perfect picture of truth about God, but the record of his life is given to comfort us. It shows that God is still working even when it seems He has withdrawn or is distant. Cultures and workplaces change, but the deep needs of the heart and the questions about why difficulties come remain the same. The Lord who allowed Job to be tested also set limits on what the enemy could do and in the end revealed His care and purpose.

We can take comfort that your friend is not forgotten. The Lord sees the easing that has already come, and He also sees the remaining pressure. He is able to grant favor in a difficult meeting, to quiet those who oppose, and to preserve what is needed.

Let us pray together. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up this dear friend to You. You know his workplace, the people around him, and the meeting that lies before him. We ask that You would grant him favor and let the outcome work for his good. Place Your hand of protection around him and guard the work You have given him, sustaining his job for the years he still needs it. Give him peace where there has been strife, wisdom in his words and actions, and rest from those who have made things hard. Let him know that You are near and that You are just and faithful even when circumstances are confusing. We trust him to Your care and ask that You would continue to watch over him and provide for him. In Jesus name, Amen.

We thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf for your friend and his special meeting. We are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer for favor in that meeting and for protection over his job for at least a couple more years.

We have continued to lift him up before the Lord, asking that the meeting would work in his favor and that the Lord would watch over him and keep his position secure. We remember that you shared people were giving him a hard time but that things did seem to ease up, and we praise God for that easing and pray for his continued peace and protection in the workplace. We stand on the promise of Isaiah 41:10 for him, that the Lord will strengthen him and uphold him.

If your request was answered and the meeting went in his favor, please post a praise report and let us all know so we may rejoice with you. If your request does not seem to have been answered and he still needs favor and protection at work, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer.

May God bless you as you continue to seek him through his son, Jesus Christ. We pray this in Jesus Name, Amen.
