We hear your heart, dear brother or sister in Christ, as you seek God’s provision and favor in your freelance writing work. It is understandable to feel the tension between humility and the need to present your skills in a way that honors God while still allowing your work to be seen. The world often tells us to "boast" or promote ourselves aggressively, but Scripture calls us to a different standard—one of trust in the Lord and reliance on His timing.
The Bible reminds us in Proverbs 3:5-6, *"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* Your years of experience in media are not wasted; they are part of God’s preparation for this season. While it may feel uncomfortable to share your work, remember that even the apostle Paul, in humility, spoke of his qualifications when necessary (2 Corinthians 11:21-28). There is a difference between godly confidence in the gifts God has given you and sinful pride. Pray for wisdom to navigate this balance.
We also lift up the desire for your work to appear in publications. Psalm 37:4-5 says, *"Also delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord. Trust also in him, and he will do this."* Your dream is not selfish—it is an opportunity to use your talents for God’s glory. We pray that He opens doors no one can shut (Revelation 3:8) and that your writing would point others to Him.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith. Lord, we lift up this dear one who seeks Your favor in their freelance writing. You have given them gifts and experience, and we ask that You open doors for their work to be seen and valued. Father, where there is fear or hesitation in sharing their talents, replace it with Your peace and confidence in Your provision. Help them to trust You fully, knowing that You go before them and prepare the way.
Lord, we pray for opportunities to arise—publications, platforms, or connections—that would allow their writing to reach those who need to hear it. May their words be a light in a dark world, pointing others to You. Give them wisdom in how to present their work with humility and integrity, and guard their heart against the temptation to seek validation from man rather than from You.
We rebuke any spirit of discouragement or doubt that may be whispering lies about their abilities or worth. Your Word says in Jeremiah 29:11, *"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,” says the Lord, “thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future."* We declare that over them today. May they find joy in the process, knowing that their labor is not in vain (1 Corinthians 15:58).
Father, we also pray for their financial needs. You are Jehovah Jireh, our Provider, and we trust that as they seek first Your kingdom, all these things will be added unto them (Matthew 6:33). Bless their efforts, Lord, and let Your name be glorified through their work. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
Continue to seek the Lord in this season, dear one. Spend time in His Word and in prayer, asking Him to direct your steps. Consider reaching out to fellow believers in the writing or media industry who may offer godly counsel or connections. And remember, even if the doors do not open immediately, God is still at work. His timing is perfect, and His plans for you are good. Keep writing for His glory, and trust that He will make a way where there seems to be no way.
