Forgiveness

We hear your cry for forgiveness and healing, and we stand with you before the throne of grace, lifting this burden to the Lord. Pornography is a snare that entangles the heart, mind, and spirit, distorting God’s holy design for intimacy and purity. The Word of God is clear: "But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity... because these are improper for God’s holy people" (Ephesians 5:3 WEB). This struggle is not just a personal failing but a spiritual battle, and we rebuke the enemy’s lies that seek to keep you bound in shame and secrecy.

Jesus Christ is your Savior, and it is only through His name that true freedom and forgiveness are found. You have rightly called upon Him, for "if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9 WEB). The blood of Jesus washes away every stain, and His grace is sufficient to break every chain. Do not let the enemy convince you that this sin is too great for God’s mercy, there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1 WEB).

We also encourage you to take practical steps to guard your heart and mind. Flee from temptation, as Joseph did when Potiphar’s wife sought to entice him (Genesis 39:12 WEB). Replace the time spent in this sin with prayer, Scripture, and godly fellowship. Accountability is a powerful tool, seek out a trusted brother in Christ who can walk with you in this battle. "Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens his friend’s countenance" (Proverbs 27:17 WEB). The enemy thrives in darkness, but light exposes and dispels him.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, acknowledging that without You, we can do nothing. We lift up our brother who is struggling with the grip of pornography. Lord, we ask that You would break every chain of addiction and shame that the enemy has used to bind him. Cleanse his heart, mind, and eyes with the precious blood of Jesus, and restore him to a place of purity and holiness.

Father, we rebuke the spirit of lust and perversion that has sought to steal, kill, and destroy his life. We declare that he is a new creation in Christ, and the old things have passed away, behold, all things have become new (2 Corinthians 5:17 WEB). Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, that he may walk in the fruit of self-control and resist temptation. Surround him with godly men who can encourage and hold him accountable.

Lord, we ask that You would heal the wounds in his soul that may have led him to seek comfort in this sin. Pour out Your love and peace, reminding him that he is fully known, fully loved, and fully forgiven in Christ. Strengthen his resolve to flee from temptation and to pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace with those who call on You out of a pure heart (2 Timothy 2:22 WEB).

We thank You, Father, for Your faithfulness and for the victory that is already ours in Jesus Christ. We declare that this brother is more than a conqueror through Him who loved us (Romans 8:37 WEB). May he walk in the freedom and joy of Your salvation, and may his life bring glory to Your name. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Do not grow weary in this fight, for the Lord is with you. Every step you take toward Him is a step away from the enemy’s grasp. You are not defined by this struggle but by the One who has already overcome it. Press into Jesus, and He will lead you into victory.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We read your request and we’re praying with you. The simple cry “Save me Jesus” is a prayer that God always hears when it comes from a sincere, broken heart. You aren’t alone in this struggle, and bringing it to God is the hardest and best thing you can do right now. Many of us understand how shame tries to keep us silent, but even that honest admission is a sign of God’s Spirit at work in you.

Forgiveness is already yours in Christ the moment you ask, but healing from pornography is often a process, not a single moment. It helps to remember that your worth doesn’t depend on a clean streak, Jesus already settled that. What you’re fighting is a real pattern, not just a series of bad choices, and patterns need to be unwound in the light.

One practical thing that could make a real difference: bring this into the light with someone else you trust. Secrecy gives this struggle so much of its power, but when you tell a safe person, a pastor, a mature Christian friend, or even a small accountability group, you break that power. It feels terrifying, but freedom almost always begins there. If face-to-face feels like too much right now, there are confidential Christian support groups specifically for men and women fighting pornography. You don’t have to do this alone.

We pray with you now.

Jesus, thank You that You never turn away anyone who calls on Your name. Forgive this one and cleanse every hidden corner of shame. Break the hold of pornography, and heal the parts of the heart that have been tangled up in it. Give the courage to reach out for real-life support, and surround them with people who will walk this road without judgment. In Your precious name, Amen.

Listen to me now, soul that cries out for pardon and healing. Your very cry is the beginning of hope, for the man sick of the palsy lay before Jesus longing for both forgiveness and wholeness, and he received them. The Son of Man has not lost His authority to forgive sin; He is exalted to give repentance and remission. And there is a whisper I would have lodge deep within your despairing heart: “There is forgiveness.” Not a forgiveness hedged about with limitations, but an absolute, broad, eternal forgiveness for all who come. God himself declares, “I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.” If you have been the chief of sinners, there is the chief of sinners’ forgiveness with Him. Do as Martin Luther did in his dark distress and believe the forgiveness of sins for yourself.

Yet mark this well. There is a repentance that gives God no glory, a mere washing and rouging of the old fallen nature that leaves the heart unchanged. That sort of sorrow for sin may rise from fear of judgment yet never lead to lasting deliverance. But the repentance that works salvation is that which is mingled with faith in Christ’s finished work: a repentance that abhors the sin because of the love that pardons it, that turns from dead works to living union with the Saviour. True repentance makes a rainbow with tears of grief for sin and glances of hope at the cross of Jesus. It glorifies God by acknowledging that only divine mercy can undo what sin has done. Do not rest in a repentance that merely moans over consequences; press into that heavenly sorrow which lays hold of Christ as your sole Master, purging the soul and filling it with living works.

Now as for the bondage from which you seek deliverance, pornography and the defilement it brings, God is in the business of breaking chains. He led Israel out of Egypt, and the remembrance of that deliverance was to make them merciful to others. In the Lord Jesus Christ you have a greater deliverance, a full redemption from the archers that have sorely wounded you. But deliverance often comes through the way of Jabbok, where you wrestle with God and confess your helplessness. He may have permitted your laboring and falling that you might learn there is none to help but Himself. Yet He will not forsake the soul that trusts in Him. The same Christ who forgives also heals. First forgiveness, then take up your bed and walk. “There is forgiveness with thee,” says the Psalmist. Where the offence went, from that very place the forgiveness comes. Cry to Him now; spread your griefs before Him who is mighty to save. Believe that His blood cleanses from all sin, and as you rise forgiven, rise also delivered, walking henceforth not in the lusts of the flesh but in the Spirit’s holy liberty. For the gifts of God are without repentance; He never plays fast and loose with a soul that casts itself wholly upon His Son.

The grief that drives you to cry out for forgiveness is itself the beginning of comfort. Do not think it is a small thing to mourn your sin. When God comforts, though sorrows come upon you like snow-flakes, you will be above them all. He does not limit His reward to the removal of our punishment, but makes those who mourn even blessed, and gives them abundant consolation. For by this very sorrow, you are being trained in gentleness and gaining a human soul. You are drawing near to receive forgiveness for such things, and a great reward is laid up for you, which is to be called to account for none of your offenses.

Yet you must understand that weeping over the wound is not the whole cure. What if you are freed from this filth for a moment, but are soft and unmanly? What if you are not unmanly, but remain careless about the hearing of the word? No single part is sufficient for our salvation. There must be a careful hearing of the word of God, a continual recollection of it, and then true fortitude against the assault. You are seeking deliverance from a curse, but you are also seeking promotion to sonship. You have put on Christ who is the Son, and received the Spirit of adoption. Bear this in mind: Who walks in you? Who dwells in you? Therefore come out from among the unclean thing, and be separate from it, and do not touch it. This is the only way He will receive you.

Do not despair if the enemy attacks again. Even if he sends a thousand vivid images, when God comforts, you can be above them. How many who have heard ten times and remained insensible have afterwards at one hearing been converted! Or rather, not at one hearing, for though they seemed insensible at the ten discourses, they gained something little by little, and then showed abundant fruit all at once. We must persist in the healing treatment. Even if you have stumbled to the very vestibule of wickedness itself, it is possible to recover, to renew your strength, and to lay hold on eternal life. Many who could have chosen a soft living did not accept deliverance, because they were looking for a better resurrection, not one of ease here, but a true resurrection.

Guard your heart fiercely against the boasting of the Pharisee who, even in harbor, suffered shipwreck because he struck upon the rock of pride. Do not think your own strength can achieve this. For if after we have done all, we ought to call ourselves unprofitable, what forgiveness can a man be worthy of who exalts himself? Remember that the reward is not reckoned of debt, but of grace. It is not by your works, but by His love for mankind. Blessed are you whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. That blessedness is a gift of enormous glory. God gives a return far greater than our labors. So mourn, yes, but mourn with a steady hope, reaching for that better resurrection and refusing to touch the dead thing again.
