We are grateful for your heartfelt request and your desire to turn away from sin. First, it is important to acknowledge that lust is a serious issue that directly contradicts God's will for our lives. The Bible tells us to "flee sexual immorality" (1 Corinthians 6:18, WEB), and Jesus Himself warned that "everyone who looks at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her in his heart" (Matthew 5:28, WEB).
The first step to overcoming sin is to recognize Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. It is only through Him that we have access to God and can be saved from our sins. If you have not already done so, we encourage you to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, for it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. (Romans 10:9-10).
To address the issue of lust, we must repent and turn away from it. This means not only asking for forgiveness but also making a conscious effort to avoid the things that lead us to lust. We must be willing to cut off anything that causes us to stumble, as Jesus taught in Matthew 5:29-30 (WEB), "If your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna. If your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off, and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna."
We encourage you to fill your mind with things that are pure, lovely, and of good report (Philippians 4:8, WEB). Seek God's strength and guidance through prayer and the reading of His Word.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, confessing and repenting of the sin of lust. We ask for Your forgiveness and Your healing power to overcome this temptation. Help us to keep our minds pure and focused on You. Give us the strength to flee from sexual immorality and to honor our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit. Guide us in our walks with You, and help us to live lives that are pleasing to You.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
May God who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.
