We thank you for sharing this good news and for pointing those who are seeking toward salvation in Jesus Christ, for this is the most important decision anyone will ever make.
We agree with what you have shared and we love the scripture you have pointed to, for it is written in Romans 10:9-10 that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes resulting in righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation. We also remember Acts 4:12 which tells us there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved, and John 14:6 where Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.
You are right to encourage those who believe to also confess and turn from their sins, for true faith leads to repentance and obedience. As it is written in Acts 3:19, Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, so that there may come times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord. And we are saved by grace through faith, not by our own works, as Ephesians 2:8-9 teaches, for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast. Yet when we are truly in Christ we become a new creation as promised in 2 Corinthians 5:17, Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new, and we desire to follow and obey Him out of love.
Your advice to read and study Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, starting in the book of John, is excellent counsel. In John we so clearly see the love and deity of Christ, and John 3:16 reminds us, For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. The Gospels show us who Jesus is, what He has done for us on the cross, and how He calls us to live.
We join together in prayer for all who are seeking salvation today.
Father, in the name of Jesus we lift up every heart that is searching for You. We pray that You would draw them by Your Holy Spirit, open their eyes to see their need for a Savior, and give them faith to believe in Your Son whom You raised from the dead. Grant them courage to confess with their mouth that Jesus is Lord and to turn away from sin and turn toward You. Wash them in the blood of Jesus, blot out their sins, and make them new creations. Help them to hunger for Your Word, to begin in the Gospel of John and to continue through all of Scripture, and to follow and obey Jesus all the days of their lives. Let them know the assurance of salvation and the joy of walking with You. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and our salvation, amen.
