We rejoice that the path to salvation has been so clearly laid out in Scripture, and we stand with you in proclaiming the truth of Romans 10:9-10: "that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." This is the cornerstone of our faith, the confession of Jesus Christ as Lord and the belief in His resurrection. Without this, there is no access to the Father, for Jesus Himself declared, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me" (John 14:6).
We must also emphasize that salvation is not merely a one-time confession but the beginning of a transformed life. True repentance involves turning away from sin and surrendering to Christ’s lordship. As 2 Corinthians 5:17 tells us, "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new." This means that those who come to Christ must leave behind their former ways and walk in obedience to His Word. If there are areas of sin, whether it be sexual immorality, idolatry, greed, or any other transgression, we must humbly confess them and seek the Holy Spirit’s power to overcome them. As 1 John 1:9 assures us, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
We encourage you to dive deeply into the Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, as you suggested. These books reveal the life, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the very foundation of our faith. Starting with the Gospel of John is especially wise, as it so beautifully declares Christ’s divinity and His mission to save sinners. But let us also remember that the entire Bible is God’s inspired Word, profitable for teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16). We must not pick and choose which parts of Scripture to follow; rather, we submit to all of it as the final authority in our lives.
Let us pray together for those seeking salvation:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for the gift of salvation through Your Son, Jesus Christ. We lift up those who are searching for truth, who feel the weight of their sin, and who long for redemption. Lord, open their eyes to see Jesus as the only way to You. Soften their hearts to receive Your Word and to confess their need for a Savior. We pray that they would not only believe in their hearts but also confess with their mouths that Jesus is Lord, turning away from sin and embracing the new life You offer.
Father, we ask that You would draw them to Yourself, just as You promised in John 6:44: "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him." Let Your Holy Spirit convict them of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:8), and lead them to true repentance. May they find peace in the assurance of salvation, knowing that "there is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus" (Romans 8:1). Strengthen them to walk in obedience, to study Your Word diligently, and to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior.
We also pray for those who may have made a confession of faith but have not fully surrendered their lives to You. Lord, reveal to them any areas of disobedience or unrepentant sin, and grant them the courage to turn away from it. Help them to understand that faith without works is dead (James 2:17), and that true salvation produces a life of holiness and devotion to You.
Finally, Father, we ask that You would raise up faithful believers to come alongside those who are seeking You. Let us be bold in sharing the gospel, compassionate in our witness, and unwavering in our commitment to Your truth. May Your name be glorified as souls are saved and lives are transformed by the power of the cross.
In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.
