We rejoice in the truth that salvation is found in no one else but Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God. The Scripture you shared from Romans 10:9-10 is a powerful declaration of the simplicity and beauty of the Gospel: "that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Salvation is evidenced by a changed heart, a turning away from sin, and a commitment to follow Christ in obedience. James 2:17 reminds us, "Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead in itself." True faith produces fruit, repentance, love, holiness, and a desire to walk in God’s ways.

We encourage you to not only read the Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, but to immerse yourself in the entire Word of God. The Bible is our guide, our comfort, and our sword against the lies of the enemy. Start in the book of John, as you suggested, for it beautifully reveals Jesus as the Son of God, the Lamb who takes away the sins of the world. But do not stop there. Study the epistles, the Psalms, the prophets, every word is breathed by God and profitable for teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16).

If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus, we invite you to do so now. Confess your sins, turn away from them, and place your trust in Him alone. He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). If you have already made this decision, we rejoice with you! But let us all examine our hearts daily, ensuring that we are growing in Christlikeness and walking in the light as He is in the light (1 John 1:7).

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts open to Your truth. We thank You for the gift of salvation through Your Son, Jesus Christ. Lord, we ask that You would draw near to those who are seeking You, that they would hear Your voice and respond in faith. For those who have not yet confessed Jesus as Lord, we pray that You would soften their hearts, convict them of their sin, and lead them to repentance. For those who have made this confession, we pray that You would deepen their faith, strengthen their walk, and help them to bear fruit in keeping with repentance.

Father, we ask that You would help us all to live lives that honor You. Guard our hearts from the deceitfulness of sin and the lies of the enemy. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit so that we may walk in Your ways and reflect Your love to the world. Help us to study Your Word diligently, to pray without ceasing, and to live in a manner worthy of the calling we have received.

Lord, we also pray for those who may be struggling with doubt or who have wandered from the faith. Draw them back to Yourself, restore their souls, and renew their passion for You. May we all be found faithful when Christ returns, standing firm in the hope of eternal life.

We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.

When we get to walk alongside a seeking friend, one thing we’ve found truly helpful is to first slow down and listen well. Often people carry tangled doubts, past hurt from churches, or deep misunderstandings about God. If we jump straight to giving verses, even the perfect ones, we might miss what they’re really wrestling with. Taking time to hear their story and build trust helps the truth land in an honest place. Jesus modeled this wonderfully: he always knew exactly what a person needed before he spoke. So as you pray for seekers and share the good news, we’d simply encourage you to let listening be as central as speaking.

With that in mind, we join you in lifting up every man and woman who is looking for salvation right now.

Jesus, you see each person who is searching, even when they can’t yet name what they’re seeking. Meet them in their questions and their need. Quiet the lies that say they’re too far gone or that this can’t be for them. Draw them gently to yourself, open their hearts to genuine belief and their mouths to confess you as Lord. Give them the gift of repentance that truly turns and changes everything. And please give wisdom and patience to the ones sharing your hope, that our words would be wrapped in your kindness. The cry of a soul panting for salvation is music to the ear of mercy. You point the thirsty to the fountain opened for sin and uncleanness, and that fountain is Christ Jesus. To look for salvation is to look to Him; to confess with the mouth the Lord Jesus and to believe in the heart that God has raised Him from the dead, this is the gospel way, and it is sure. Yet take heed that this confession and belief be not a mere mental assent, for many are bred in a repentance that is of the flesh, reforming the outward and fearing punishment, but working no change of heart. True repentance gives God glory; it is a rainbow of tears and hope. And what is true faith? It is the hand that receives Christ, not the measure of the hand, the least faith saves, for it is faith, not the strength of our grip, that unites us to Him.

You say rightly that one must turn from sin and follow Jesus, but see that you do not make these the price of pardon. Repentance and remission of sins are preached in His name, as gifts of His grace. They come together, twins born in the selfsame hour. Look to Him who is exalted to give repentance and forgiveness; trust not to your turning, but to His finished work. Your reading of John is wise, for there the Spirit breathes life through the Word. Abide in the Word, and let the Word abide in you; but remember, it is by the Spirit that we wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. Hasten to Christ, even with the trembling faith of a fearing sinner; confess Him with your mouth, for with the heart man believes unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Yours is not to delay until some imagined fitness, but to come now.

The fearful, the weak, the backslider, all are summoned. Write your name in the family register, or if voice falter, let a written confession declare, “I am the Lord’s.” Yet be not carried by mere fashion; let your confession be personal and heart-deep. The same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon Him. Look not to feelings, but to the cross; for we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. May the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, seal these things upon your heart.

The word of faith is indeed near you, in your mouth and in your heart, for salvation holds itself out in a very short way. When you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe without doubting that God raised Him from the dead, you are justified at once. This is the righteousness which is by faith, not requiring a long circuit of works, but grasping the power of His resurrection. For what reason could ever demonstrate the resurrection to the mind? None, but faith alone. Believe then that He lives, and that because He lives, you also shall live, even if you were dead. Let no one say in their heart, "Who shall ascend into heaven?" or "Who shall descend into the deep?" The word is already on your lips. Confess Christ openly, even if the world casts you out, for such confession is fellowship with His sufferings, and through suffering you are conformed to His death so that you may also attain the resurrection from the dead.

But let your confession be joined to a sincere turning from sin. The publican went down justified merely for crying out, "God be merciful to me a sinner." How much more will you obtain mercy if you humble your soul, condemn your own deeds, and flee from them? Confession of the mouth is empty if the heart clings to its defilement. Therefore forgive every injury done to you, bestow alms on the needy, and walk in lowliness. These things purge away the stain of sin and prepare you to receive the remission already promised. John the Baptist preached a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins so that people, having judged themselves, might more readily receive grace. Do the same: judge yourself, and you will not be judged.

Begin reading the Gospels, especially John, as you have resolved. There you will hear Christ Himself declare, "I am the Resurrection and the Life; he who believes in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live." Let no sorrow or fear of death trouble you any longer; believe this and you shall never die the death that truly kills. For if Abraham so many ages ago believed that God is able to raise the dead, how much more should we, who have seen Christ risen as the firstfruits of them that sleep. Hold fast this faith, and let it work itself out in a life of obedience. Study the Scriptures diligently, and you will find the Lord making a short, straight path to salvation.

Salvation is indeed as near as the very words you have shared. God has not hidden it in some distant place, requiring a pilgrimage or a mighty act of heroism. It is close to you, as close as your own mouth and your own heart. The simplicity of it confounds our human pride, which always wants to earn or deserve what can only be received.

When you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, you are not just uttering a phrase. You are declaring that He holds absolute authority over every corner of your existence. To say “Jesus is my Lord” and then live as if you are still the master of your own life is an empty echo, the kind of talk Jesus warned about when He asked, “Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you?” The confession is proven real when it flows from a heart that believes God raised Him from the dead, a faith so alive that it transforms how you walk, how you speak, and what you prioritize. A man who says “me first” disqualifies himself; the one who follows Jesus has learned to deny himself daily.

This message of righteousness through faith, apart from the endless striving of works, is the open door for all who will believe. You are not saved by how perfectly you have cleaned yourself up, but by putting your trust entirely in the One who took the curse for your sin. When you believe, God accounts you righteous because of your faith in Jesus Christ. He looks at you and sees the righteousness of His own Son. That is the gift that silences every doubt.

The instruction to read Scripture, starting in John, is exactly right. There you will see the Son of God, the true Light, confronting those who thought they could see but were blind in their sin. Do not be like those who trust in their own religious knowledge. Come to Him with the simple, open need of a child. As you read, let the words show you the Lord who demands no less than everything, but who gave everything to make you His own. This is the Lord who delivers from every enemy, not because of our merit, but because of His mercy.

Examine your heart honestly. Forsake the idols and the sins that so easily pull us back into bondage. Let your confession be a heartfelt turning away from your own rebellion, laying down every “me first” demand, and taking hold of the Lord who is worthy. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. It is that sure, and it is that close.
