We rejoice in the truth of Romans 10:9-10, which declares, "that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes resulting in righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation." This is the foundation of our faith, acknowledging Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, believing in His resurrection, and confessing Him before others. Salvation is a gift from God, received by grace through faith, not by our own works, so that no one can boast (Ephesians 2:8-9).

However, true faith is not merely a one-time confession but a transformative relationship with Jesus Christ that bears fruit in a life of repentance and obedience. Jesus Himself said, "If you love me, keep my commandments" (John 14:15). Confessing Jesus as Lord means turning away from sin and following Him wholeheartedly. The book of James reminds us that "faith without works is dead" (James 2:26), meaning that genuine faith will produce a changed life. If you have confessed Jesus as Lord but continue to live in unrepentant sin, whether it be sexual immorality, idolatry, hatred, or any other disobedience, we urge you to examine your heart and surrender fully to Christ. Repentance is not a one-time act but a daily posture of humility before God.

We also encourage you to immerse yourself in Scripture, starting with the Gospel of John, as you mentioned. John 1:12 tells us, "But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become God’s children, to those who believe in his name." The Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, reveal the life, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the only way to the Father (John 14:6). There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet placed your faith in Jesus Christ, we plead with you to do so today. He is the only mediator between God and man (1 Timothy 2:5), and it is through Him alone that we have access to the Father.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for the gift of salvation through Your Son, Jesus Christ. We thank You for the truth of Your Word, which declares that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10:13). Lord, we lift up those who are seeking You, those who are on the brink of surrendering their lives to Christ, and those who may have made a confession but are struggling to live it out. We ask that You would draw them near to You, soften their hearts, and open their eyes to the truth of the Gospel.

Father, we pray for those who have not yet confessed Jesus as Lord. Convict them of their sin, Lord, and reveal to them their need for a Savior. May they understand that there is no other name by which they can be saved, and may they turn to You in repentance and faith. For those who have confessed but are living in disobedience, we ask that You would bring them to a place of true repentance. Help them to see that following You requires a daily surrender, a turning away from sin, and a commitment to walk in Your ways.

Lord, we also pray for those who are studying Your Word. May the Holy Spirit illuminate the Scriptures to them, revealing the depth of Your love and the truth of Your character. May they grow in their understanding of who You are and what it means to follow You. Strengthen their faith, Lord, and help them to stand firm in the face of temptation or doubt.

We rebuke every lie of the enemy that seeks to keep people in bondage to sin or doubt. We declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, and that through His blood, we have been set free from the power of sin and death. We pray that every heart would be transformed by the power of the Gospel, and that lives would be lived in a manner worthy of the calling they have received (Ephesians 4:1).

Father, we ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the name above every name, the only name by which we can be saved. May Your will be done in each life, and may Your Kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven. Amen.

To those reading this, we encourage you to take a moment right now to examine your heart. Have you truly surrendered your life to Jesus Christ? If not, we urge you to confess Him as Lord, believe in His resurrection, and turn away from your sins. If you have already made this confession but find yourself struggling, we encourage you to repent and seek the Lord with all your heart. He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). Study His Word, seek fellowship with other believers, and walk in obedience to His commands. The Christian life is not a journey we walk alone, we are part of the body of Christ, and we need one another to grow and thrive in our faith. Give them the faith to confess with their mouth that You are Lord and to believe in their heart that God raised You from the dead. Thank You that You never turn away anyone who comes to You. What a blessed thing it is to find a soul that is looking for salvation, for such are the ones who shall indeed praise the Lord when they have found Him. The quiet seeker often feels that no eye perceives the inward struggle, but the Lord Jesus sees you even now, as He did Nathanael beneath the fig tree. And it is no small comfort to know that the command to seek His face was never given in vain. The Lord has not said to the seed of Jacob, “Seek ye Me in vain.” Therefore, come with boldness, though with deepest humility.

Yet let me press upon you that true seeking must be mingled with repentance, for faith and repentance are inseparable. No repentance is authentic unless it is joined with faith in Christ, and no faith is genuine unless it is accompanied by a hearty sorrow for sin. The repentance that saves is that which loathes sin because Christ was nailed to the cross for it, and it turns from it with a determined purpose. Pray then, “Lord, sink me low as hell in repentance, but lift me high as heaven in faith.” For it is faith that lays hold upon Jesus as Lord, believing in the heart that God raised Him from the dead. This resurrection is the very keystone of our justification; He was delivered for our offenses and raised again for our acquittal. If thou canst confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. That is the plain promise of the Word, and it stands sure.

But see to it that thy faith produces obedience, for by faith Abraham obeyed. The faith that saves is not a barren notion; it bows the will to the authority of Jesus as Lord. As thou dost believe more firmly, thou shalt find obedience springing up in thy life. Yet do not imagine that this obedience contributes an atom to thy salvation, for salvation is of the Lord from first to last, planned by the Father, purchased by the Son, and applied by the Spirit. All thy doings are but the fruit, not the root. Come then, confess thy ignorance, thy weakness, thy utter inability to save thyself, and cast thyself entirely upon Him who is both Jesus the Savior and Jesus our Lord. The Man of Sorrows who bore thy sins is now exalted to be thy Master. Let a holy fear put wings upon thy heels and drive thee to His feet. Plead with Him as a man pleads for his life, and let not thy grasp be loosened until He blesses thee. The very fact that thou art seeking is proof that His Spirit is drawing thee; therefore, give glory to God by yielding to that gracious attraction and taking Christ as thine now. Amen.

The prayer you lift up for those seeking salvation is a sweet fragrance rising to the heavens, and you have directed them well to the Apostle’s words: confess with the mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in the heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you shall be saved. Yet let us take care, for this holy confession is no light thing, no mere movement of the lips. The heart must first be plowed by repentance. Why else did John the Forerunner come with his rough garment and his severe cry, “Bring forth fruits meet for repentance,” if not to awaken a sense of sin? For until a man condemns his own deeds and feels the burden of his guilt, he will not truly long for a Redeemer nor confess with conviction. The sorrow of the world works death, but godly sorrow works repentance unto salvation not to be repented of.

Look at the jailor, trembling before Paul and Silas, crying out, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” Here was a soul already smitten with the fear of God and the knowledge of his own wretchedness. And what was the apostolic answer? “Repent and be baptized.” Not one without the other. The confession you commend must be joined to a turning from sin, a life of obedience. For our Lord Himself, though He was a Son, learned obedience through the things which He suffered, and being made perfect, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him. Let no one think to honor Christ with the tongue while despising His commands. I have often warned from this throne: I will not yield its rights; I utterly exclude the disobedient, not from severity but from a burning desire for your salvation.

And you are right to send these seekers to the holy Gospels, and to begin with John. There they will behold the good confession of our Master when He stood before Pilate: “To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth.” In reading John, they will see that true faith is not a barren notion, but a living attachment to the Word made flesh. The King of Babylon, converted by the sight of the three youths delivered, himself became a preacher and confessor, declaring, “Of a truth your God is the God of gods and the Lord of kings.” His confession was not in secret but before the whole realm, because the truth had gripped him and overthrew his former pride. So must it be with every soul that approaches salvation: the mouth speaks from the heart’s abundance, and the life echoes the confession.

Continue, then, in this blessed work of intercession. Pray not only that they may speak the words, but that they may first be pierced with compunction, that they may turn wholly from their sins, and that with steadfast obedience they may follow Jesus all their days. If they so confess and so believe, they shall most assuredly be saved, and we together shall reap eternal blessings, through the grace and mercy of our only begotten God, to whom with the Father and the Holy Ghost be glory forever and ever. Amen.

You are seeking the only thing that ultimately matters, and you have put your finger on the heart of it by turning to Romans 10. Those verses hold the clear, simple promise: if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

This is the true gospel. It is not a message of trying to work yourself into God’s favor or cleaning yourself up enough to be accepted. That would not be good news at all. The good news is that salvation is a gift of grace, received through faith. When Paul wrote to the Romans that he was not ashamed of the gospel, he called it the very power of God for salvation to everyone who believes. That power does not rest on your effort but on the finished work of Christ.

The call to turn from your sins and follow Jesus is the right response. That is repentance. It is not a work you perform to earn salvation; it is the evidence that you have truly believed. When you understand that Jesus is Lord and that He bore the judgment your sins deserved, your heart turns away from what once held you. Faith without that kind of change is a mere verbal assent, not the living trust that justifies. A changed life demonstrates the genuineness of what has happened inside, but the change itself is the fruit, not the root. The moment you confess and believe, you are saved. The life of obedience that follows flows from that new reality.

There is an urgency here. The confession that saves is made now, while your heart is drawn and your knees bend willingly. A day is coming when every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, but on that day, for those who waited, it will not be a confession that brings salvation. Now is the moment when confessing Him as your salvation means eternal life.

Lean into the Gospels as you planned, starting in John. There you will see who Jesus is. He is the Word made flesh, the one whose name, Yahshua, means the Lord our salvation. He learned obedience through suffering and became the author of eternal salvation for all who obey Him, not obeying to be saved, but obeying because they have been saved, because they have submitted to His Lordship. He went to the cross in full submission to the Father, and through that obedience He brought us this salvation.

Do not let anyone persuade you that you must add anything to simple faith in Him. If a message demands that you keep rituals or achieve a certain moral standing to clinch your salvation, it is a perversion. It is not another gospel; it is no gospel at all. The covenant God made to bless you cannot be undone by your failures, for it rests on His promise, not your performance. So confess Christ as Lord right now, believe in the resurrection without reservation, and you have passed from death into life. Then let your life become what the gospel deserves, a life of purity and holiness that flows from gratitude, not from fear.
