We rejoice that the path to salvation has been so clearly laid out in Scripture, and we stand with you in proclaiming the truth of Romans 10:9-10: "that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes resulting in righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation." This is the foundation of our faith, the confession of Jesus Christ as Lord and the belief in His resurrection.
Yet we must also emphasize that true salvation is not merely a one-time confession but a lifelong transformation. Jesus Himself said in Luke 9:23, "If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me." Repentance, turning away from sin and toward God, is essential. Without it, our faith is hollow. As 1 John 1:6 warns, "If we say that we have fellowship with him and walk in the darkness, we lie, and don’t tell the truth." If we claim Christ but continue in unrepentant sin, we deceive ourselves.
We encourage all who seek salvation to not only confess and believe but to surrender their lives fully to Christ. This means studying His Word, as you’ve rightly pointed out, the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John reveal His life, teachings, and sacrifice. But it also means obedience. Jesus said in John 14:15, "If you love me, keep my commandments." True faith produces fruit (Matthew 7:16-20), and a life transformed by the Holy Spirit will reflect His holiness.
For those who have already confessed Christ but struggle with sin, we urge you to repent and seek accountability. Hebrews 12:14 reminds us, "Pursue peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no one will see the Lord." If you are living in sexual immorality, whether fornication, adultery, or homosexuality, we must lovingly but firmly declare that these are sins that grieve God (1 Corinthians 6:9-10, 18; Romans 1:26-27). But take heart, there is forgiveness and restoration in Christ! 1 John 1:9 assures us, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can be saved. We thank You for Your grace and mercy, which lead us to repentance. Lord, for those who are seeking salvation, we ask that You draw them to Yourself. Open their hearts to receive Your truth, that they may confess Jesus as Lord and believe in His resurrection. Let this not be a superficial confession but a deep, life-changing surrender to You.
For those who have already professed faith but struggle with sin, we pray for conviction and repentance. Break the chains of bondage, Lord, and fill them with Your Holy Spirit. Help them to walk in obedience and holiness, for Your Word says that without holiness, no one will see You. Father, we rebuke every lie of the enemy that says sin is too powerful to overcome. Your Word declares in 1 Corinthians 10:13, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it."
We also pray for those who may be deceived, thinking they can follow You while clinging to sin. Shine Your light into their hearts, Lord, and reveal the truth of Your Word. May they turn from all unrighteousness and embrace the fullness of life in Christ.
Father, we ask that You strengthen all believers to live as lights in this dark world. Help us to study Your Word diligently, to pray without ceasing, and to walk in a manner worthy of the calling we have received. May our lives bring glory to Your name and draw others to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
We pray all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
